Hamilton was named a finalist for the Hugh Durham Coach of the Year Award, given annually to the top Mid Major coach in college basketball.

TSU LANDS GEORGIA TRANSFER
Christian Brown is transferring from Georgia to TSU. Brown committed to Georgia in 2019 as a four-star recruit and the No. 66-ranked player according to the 247Sports’ composite rankings out of Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. Brown averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per game but his year was cut short after 17 games with a season-ending injury. The Tigers went 4-19 with a 3-17 record in the Ohio Valley Conference last year. TSU has seen nine players enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to HBCU Gameday.

LOUISVILLE’S #2 SCORER OPTS FOR NBA DRAFT
Louisville guard David Johnson will enter the NBA draft and forego his final two seasons of eligibility after being one of the Cardinals’ most productive players the past two years. NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon lost a perfect game in the ninth, but held on to no-hit the Indians in an 8-0 win in Chicago. He hit Roberto Perez in the foot with a pitch with one out in the ninth for Cleveland’s only baserunner. It was the 20th no-no in White Sox history.

The slumping Astros are playing shorthanded. Stars Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman are among five players who were placed on the injured list Wednesday due to COVID-19-related protocols. The Astros were swept at home by the Tigers and have lost five straight games overall.

The loss of Jamal Murray didn’t bother the Nuggets on Wednesday as they humbled the Heat 123-106 in Denver. Nikola Jokic had a triple-double for Denver, which is fourth in the West at 35-and-20. Murray suffered a torn ACL in his left knee Monday.

The University of Arizona has its new men’s basketball coach. The Wildcats have hired Gonzaga assistant coach Tommy Lloyd to lead the charge in Tucson. He gets a five-year contract. Lloyd takes over for Sean Miller, who was fired earlier this month after 12 seasons on the job.

The Browns are bringing in another pass-rusher. Multiple reports say they are signing free-agent Jadeveon Clowney to a one-year deal worth up to 10-million dollars. The 28-year-old was limited to eight games and no sacks with the Titans last season. Clowney has 32 career sacks.
