College Basketball:  Vanderbilt ended an 11 game losing streak dating back to 2017 in upsetting sixth ranked Tennessee 66-65 in Nashville last night.  Tyler Lawrence knocked down a three point shot from the right baseline as time expired to give the Commodores the win.

Last night in the Missouri Valley Conference:  Missouri State edged Belmont 61-59, Indiana State upended Valparaiso 84-62, Southern Illinois slid by UIC 68-66, Evansville downed Northern Iowa 71-59  and Bradley over Illinois State 79-61.

Murray State’s women return home Friday night to meet Indiana State.  Tip off is at 6 with pre game at 5:30 on WNBS.

HS Basketball:  The Murray High Tiger boys are back in action this evening hosting Camden Central.  Tip off is at 7:30 with pre game at 7 on WNBS.

College Baseball/Softball:   Murray State’s baseball and softball teams open their 2023 seasons beginning tomorrow.  Coach Dan Skirka’s baseball Racers open the season at North Florida in the first of a three game series.  First pitch is at 5:05 Central time, with Saturday’s game beginning at 1:05 and Sunday’s game starts in Jacksonville at 12:05.

Coach Kara Amundson’s softball nine face Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 10 am and UTEP at 1 pm Friday at the Wildcat Classic at Abilene Christian University.

Speaking of Racer softball, the team’s tournament to be held February 24-26 will be known as the Velvet Milkman Invitational.  It’s being named in honor of Milkman-who served 29 years at Murray State as women’s golf coach and 18 years as senior women’s athletic administrator before her retirement.  The teams including Murray State in the field are Ball State, Bellarmine, Illinois State, Loyola Chicago and Miami, OH.
