Schools in Western Kentucky and West Tennessee remain closed today due to the continuing icy conditions.  To see the complete list of closings, go to froggy103.com and click on the school and area closings banner to see the latest cancellations.

The City of Murray announced in a social media post Wednesday residents who normally get garbage pickup service on Tuesday and Wednesday need to have trash out today.  The city has not been able to pickup trash the last two days due to the weather.  Thursday customers will have their trash picked up Friday and those who were to have recycling picked up Wednesday will have that service done on Friday.

Also, commercial customers who were not serviced Tuesday or yesterday will have their garbage collected in a “clean sweep” to get it all collected thanks to the availability of extra commercial trucks.

A Wednesday morning fire in the southside of Paducah claims the life of a teenager.   West Kentucky Star.com reports the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department along with firemen from Reidland, Hendron, Farley and Ledbetter departments were called to the home on Pugh Road just before 10am.

When firemen arrived, they found the house fully involved and discovered the body of a 16-year-old female.  The name of the victim nor any other information has been released and the cause of the deadly blaze is under investigation.

Both westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Lyon County were shut down for a period of time Wednesday due to a tractor trailer catching fire.  The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the fire occurred around 7:30 am when the truck’s brakes likely overheated causing it to catch fire.  It took until early afternoon to remove the truck but there were reductions to one lane until last night.

Governor Beshear announced Wednesday expansion for a Hopkinsville manufacturing facility.  White Drive Motors ad Steering will expand its 124-thousand square foot facility and create 25 full time jobs with a nearly $16 million investment.  The company manufacturers orbital motors and hydraulic steering units.
