A student was removed from Calloway County High School last Friday.  According to a social media post from the school, a parent dropping off a student said they reported seeing a weapon in the student’s vehicle.  School officials identified a “splat gun” in the vehicle, with the student also saying there was a shot gun and ammunition in it.

Two Lyon County teens are in trouble for threatening a witness.  The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department says the 14-and-15-year-olds were seen by witnesses allegedly harassing a witness and making threats in a criminal case.  The incident was also supported by video evidence.  The teens were charged Friday with intimidating a participant in the legal process.

An oil well explosion leaves a man in critical condition in Muhlenberg County.  The explosion happened Monday morning near Highway 853 and Teddleton Lane.  Several fire departments responded to the scene and KY-853 was shut down.  The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

Kentucky State Police are leading the search for 45-year-old Richard Harper who escaped the Webster County Detention Center on Sunday.  He was originally arrested back in August on charges including meth possession and fleeing police.  Images of Harper have been posted online and anyone with information is asked to contact authorities as soon as possible.

A Christian County deputy jail faces misconduct and drug related charges.  WHOP Radio reports 49-year-old Scot Grillett had reportedly bringing contraband into the Christian County Jail.  According to the arrest citation, Grillett admitted to giving an inmate two 800 milligram Aleve prescription pills among other items.  Investigators also found a large amount of methamphetamine in Grillett’s vehicle.  Grillett was arrested Sunday.

The Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation says Calloway County will be one of 10 Kentucky counties to receive a loan.  Calloway County will get $250-thousand as part of the Beginning Farmer Loan Program.  According to a news release, the funds will be used to assist individuals with some farming experience who desire to develop, expand or buy into a farming operation.
