For the third time this season, Murray State’s Katelyn Young was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Player of the Week Monday. Young had a career high 43 points in Sunday’s loss at Drake and averaged 30 points per game in two games last week. HS Basketball: Murray High’s girls defeated Fulton County 35-24 in the opening round of the 1st Region All A Classic last night. The Lady Tigers meet Mayfield on the road Thursday night in semifinal action at 6, with pregame at 5:30 on WNBS.

MLB: The St. Louis Cardinals annual Winter Caravan will come to Paducah this morning. The Caravan will come to the Paducah-McCracken County Convention and Expo Center at noon on January 16th. Current Cardinal players Nolan Gorman, Matthew Liberatore and James Naile along with former Redbirds Jason Motte and Kerry Robinson will be in attendance. Admission to the public is free.
NFL: The Tennessee Titans are moving on from offensive coordinator Todd Downing. Team administrators announced yesterday that he and three other assistant coaches are not being retained for next season. Downing faced criticism over the past several months, both for a lack of production on the field and a recent DUI arrest. Offensive line coach Keith Carter, offensive skill assistant Erik Frazier, and secondary coach Anthony Midget are also being let go.
College Football: Georgia won its second consecutive national championship, routing TCU 65-7 in the College Football Playoff final last night in Los Angeles.
