A local man is jailed and the search continues for a second suspect by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department.  Investigators say 63-year-old Rex Stone of Almo was arrested on a warrant for several charges.  Stone-a convicted felon-was found to allegedly be in possession of two pistols, a rifle and what is believed to be methamphetamine.  Timothy Foster is also wanted in the investigation.  Anyone with information about Foster is asked to contact the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department at 270-753-3151.

 

Two local men were arrested following a traffic stop by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department Saturday night.  51-year-old Anthony Clinton and 49-year-old Daryl Eldridge were taken into custody after a vehicle search allegedly netted a hand gun along with methamphetamine.  Both men were charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance.

 

A local man received a seven year jail term in connection with the death of another local man just over two years ago.  42-year-old Benjamin Wayne Jones was sentenced in Calloway Circuit Court last Thursday in connection with the shooting death of 53-year-old Luis C. Mancilla in December, 2020.   Jones entered an Alford plea for the second degree manslaughter charge.

 

Eight students were injured when a Christian County school bus was involved in a single vehicle mishap just before 7 am near the Kentucky 800 intersection in Crofton Monday morning.  WHOP Radio reports the students were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

 

Three members of the Kentucky Supreme Court are being sworn in this week.  New Chief Justice Laurance B. VanMeter was sworn in yesterday at the State Capitol in Frankfort.  Justice Angela McCormick Bisig will be sworn in today and Justice Kelly Thompson’s ceremony is tomorrow.
