The National Weather Service says we could see several rounds of rain over the next several days that could lead to minor flooding.  Parts of the region could see up to four inches of rain through Tuesday along with some severe storms.  Saturday and Sunday look like the best days of no rain on the New Year’s weekend with rain and thunderstorms returning for Monday and Tuesday.

 

Former Lyon County judge executive Wade Wilson has taken a new position in the private sector.  According to a news release Wednesday, Princeton based Farmers Bank and Trust Company announced Wilson will join the company’s banking team as of next week.  Farmers Bank and Trust has full service offices in Caldwell and Lyon counties along with a loan production office in Murray.

 

The Tennessee Valley Authority says it will conduct a review into why rolling blackouts were implemented during extremely cold temperatures over the Christmas weekend.  According to a statement, TVA says it takes full responsibility for the impact the blackouts had to customers.

 

TVA adds they will take corrective actions as determined by the review to be sure they are prepared to manage such significant events in the future.  During a 24 hour period on December 23rd, TVA reportedly supplied more power than at any other time in its 90 year history.

 

Governor Beshear announced Thursday the federal government has selected Kentucky for a nearly $36 million grant to support families and the state’s economy by ensuring more children are ready for kindergarten.  According to a news release, The Office of Early Childhood Development Preschool Devleopment Birth through Five grant will provide Kentucky with $11.9 million per year over a three year period.
