
Murray police say a Calvert City woman was injured Wednesday in a two vehicle accident. According to a news release, the mishap occurred around 11:10 am when a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Taylor Bohannon was pulling out of the Kroger parking lot onto 12th Street and attempted to merge into the southbound lane.
Bohannon told investigators she did not see a semi operated by 57-year-old Michael Pinkston of Telephone, Texas and collided with it. Pinkston was not hurt while Bohannon was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment of possible injuries.
The Kentucky Lake Economic Development Board this week hired a new president to lead Marshall County’s economic growth. West Kentucky Star.com reports Elizabeth Griffith Mudd will begin her new duties January 1st. Mudd has most recently served as the director of existing industry and workforce development for the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation.
Groundbreaking was held earlier this week for a new cancer center for western Kentucky. WPSD reports the new facility will be at Mercy Health-Lourdes Hopsital. The 19-thousand square foot facility will cost $12.5 million. It will be constructed between Mercy Health-Lourdes and the Paducah Medical Pavillon.
A main roadway in Hopkinsville will finally get widened next year. Christian Fiscal Court voted this week to assist in transferring parcels of property to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for the West 7th Street project.
The project-which will take place from the Kentucky 91 intersection to North Drive will have a 10 foot multi purpose lane along with two 11 foot lanes and improvements for a small bridge which has become tighter over the years with the number and size of transit and personal vehicles. The project will cost nearly six million dollars.
After being appointed to the job earlier this year, Eddyville’s police chief is retiring from his post. WKDZ reports Brook Dixon was appointed to the post in March. The City of Eddyville will start advertising immediately to fill the job.
