 HS Basketball:    One local game to note tonight as Murray High’s girls travel to Paducah Tilghman.

College Basketball:  In the Missouri Valley Conference last night,  Indiana State edged Southern Illinois 74-71, Illinois State defeated Eastern Michigan 87-81, Evansville eased by Campbell 72-66, Drake upended Omaha 76-65 and Saint Mary’s routed Missouri State 66-46.

Elsewhere:  Seventh ranked Tennessee drubbed Eastern Kentucky 84-49 and Vanderbilt edged Pitt 75-74.

College Football:  The University of Louisville’s Board of Trustees are expected to formally approve the hiring of Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm as the Cardinals new head coach today.  Brohm has been the Boilermakers head coach the last six seasons.  He was a star quarterback at Louisville in the 1990’s. Brohm replaces Scott Satterfield, who left to become the head coach at Cincinnati.

Kentucky quarterback Will Levis announced on social media Wednesday his plans to skip the Wildcats appearance in the Music City Bowl against Iowa and place his name in the NFL Draft.  Levis is projected as a first round pick in the 2023 draft.  He completed 65 percent of his passes this season and threw fo 2,406 yards with 19 touchdowns ands 10 interceptions for Kentucky this season.

NBA:  The Memphis Grizzlies rolled to their fourth-straight win after a 123-102 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Memphis.  Ja Morant tallied a triple-double on 26 points, 11 assists and 13 rebounds.  The Grizzlies are now 16-9 on the season and host Detroit tomorrow night.

MLB:  The St. Louis Cardinals are poaching a catcher from one of their division rivals.  ESPN reports the team signed former Chicago Cub Willson Contreras to a five-year contract worth 87-and-a-half million dollars on Wednesday.  The 30-year-old is a three-time National League All-Star, and he hit .243 with 22 home runs and 55 RBI with Chicago last season.  Contreras will replace Cardinals legend Yadier Molina, who retired at the conclusion of this past season.

NFL:  Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel spoke Wednesday on the firing of general manager Jon Robinson.  Vrabel said change is never easy, but the team has a job to do.  Vrabel went on to say personal feelings aren’t important and the group needs to respect and understand the decision while moving forward.  The 7-and-5 Titans host the 4-and-8 Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday afternoon.
