The National Weather Service says most of Western Kentucky will see an inch or so of rain through the day today before it ends this evening.  We will have a sunny day Friday, but forecasters are calling for rain to return on Saturday.

 

As we near the one year anniversary of the deadly tornadoes that struck Western Kentucky, money put toward recovery efforts in Mayfield has not been distributed.  WPSD reports the Mayfield-Graves County Long Term Recovery Group was allotted $5.7 million, but only $18-thousand has been given out thus far. According to Mayfield-Graves County LTRG Executive Director Ryan Drane, restrictions were put in place not allowing them to utilize the funds. Drane adds he hopes the state will soon make the money more accessible for survivors.

 

Triple A reports gas prices are on the decline across Western Kentucky.  The average price is $3.01 even though prices are in the $2.75 neighborhood around Murray.  Triple A suggests increasing oil supplies and steady gasoline demand are contributing factors to the lower gas prices.

 

Kentucky treasurer Allison Ball says her office has returned $150 million dollars in unclaimed property during her two term tenure,  According to a news release, Ball’s office has about $800 million in unclaimed property.  The Republican has announced her plans to run for state auditor next year.
