Murray Police say a juvenile outside Kentucky is accused of calling in bomb threats to Murray Elementary and Murray Middle School Monday.

According to a WPSD report, Murray Independent superintendent Coy Samons says both schools received anonymous phone calls just before the dismissal of classes yesterday.  The caller indicated bombs would be placed in the schools today.  Murray Police investigators are working with authorities in the state where the juvenile lives

Classes and programs will go on as scheduled today. Superintendent Samons adds the schools will have increased police presence today and counselors will be available to talk with students.

A McCracken County couple has been indicted by a McCracken County grand jury following an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Unit of the Kentucky Attorney General’s office.  According to a news release, 68-year-old Kenneth Verne Anderson and 63-year-old Gina Smith Anderson are accused of exploitation and theft from vulnerable adults.  It’s alleged the pair exploited numerous victims from 2006 until this year.

Kentucky governor Andy Beshear announced Monday the US Department of Homeland Security has extended the REAL ID enforcement for Kentuckians by two years.  The new enforcement date is May 7, 2025 replacing the previous date of May 3, 2023.  The extension will give residents more time to request a compliant driving or identity credential that maintains air travel access and military base entry.

Kentucky governor Andy Beshear also announced Monday his plans to seek re-election.  Beshear filed his campaign papers yesterday and plans to begin campaigning early next year.  Beshear is the 63rd governor in Kentucky and served as Kentucky Attorney General before being elected governor.
