Two Calloway County residents were injured in a two vehicle accident Thursday morning. The Calloway County Sheriff’s Department says the mishap occurred on US 641 when a vehicle operated by 38-year-old Sean Mulholland of Murray crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Kayla Underwood of Hazel.
Investigators say Mulholland’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Both drivers were taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment.
A second lawsuit has been filed in connection with the deadly tornado last December 10th that struck the Mayfield Candle Factory. West Kentucky Star.com reports the newest lawsuit filed is on behalf of three employees who died and seven others who were injured.
The suit filed in Graves Circuit Court claims Mayfield Consumer Products and supervisor Justin Bobbitt should be held responsible as the defendants are accused of false imprisonment and violation of Kentucky statues. Nine people died at the plant where 110 people were working.
Former 42nd Circuit Judge Jamey Jameson announced Thursday he has filed a suit challenging his loss to Andrea Moore in the November election. WPSD reports Jameson is claiming Moore “used a plot” and used misleading tactics during the campaign.
Mayfield and Graves County received some good news Thursday. According to a Facebook post, Osmundson Manufacturing Company plans to build a 150-thousand square foot facility to produce 20-inch and larger disc blades for construction and agriculture applications. The $12.5 million facility will bring 80 jobs to Graves County. Construction will begin next year with the facility to open in 2025.
Changes are coming to Kentucky’s sales tax. The changes start at the beginning of 2023 and will impact over 30 services which could include utilities for some people across the commonwealth. Exemptions are available for some Kentuckians who are eligible to avoid the six percent sales tax added to water, sewer and electric bills. A form to apply for an exemption can be found on the Kentucky Department of Revenue website.
