The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch reports a Christian County man is jailed on charges of alleged sexually explicit online contact with a minor. 28-year-old Logan S. Fryar is charged with procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means. Investigators say the charges are related to child sexual abuse material and carry a penalty of one to five years in prison if Fryar is convicted. He’s jailed at the Marshall County Detention Center. .The Tennessee Valley Authority announced Wednesday plans to open Kentucky and Barkley Dams to help raise the low river levels on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. According to a post on TVA’s Facebook page, there will be “special water releases” from Kentucky Dam on the Tennessee River and Barkley Dam on the Cumberland River. No details on the amount of water to be released or a timetable was released.

Former Kentucky Justice Cabinet secretary John Tilley was indicted by a Fayette County grand jury last week. The former state representative from Hopkinsville is accused of having sex with a woman in Lexington who could not consent because she was physically helpless. Tilley pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled for arraignment October 28th.

College Basketball: The Missouri Valley Conference men’s preseason poll was released yesterday with Murray State picked 8th. Drake was picked first followed by Bradley, Southern Illinois, Missouri State and Northern Iowa in the top five. Belmont was selected sixth, Indiana State 7th, Valparaiso 9th, Illinois State 10th, Illinois-Chicago 11th and Evansville 12th.

Murray State’s Rob Perry was named to the MVC’s Third team All Conference.

Murray State basketball’s annual Racermania event for the men’s and women’s teams will be tonight at the CFSB Center. The event begins at 7 with doors opening at 6:15. All fans are invited and admission is free.

College Football: Murray State is back in action Saturday still seeking its first win. The Racers visit Lindenwood for a 1 pm kickoff with pregame at 12:30 on Froggy 103.7.

The University of Alabama football team is investigating a report that one of their players struck a Tennessee fan over the weekend. A video online appears to show Jermaine Burton making contact with a fan after the Vols crowd stormed the field following the upset win. Head coach Nick Saban said it’s a difficult situation and the school doesn’t condone the mistreatment of anybody.

College Soccer: Murray State’s women begin a two game season ending Missouri Valley Conference road trip this afternoon at Northern Iowa. The team will conclude regular season play Saturday at Drake.

NBA: It took overtime, but the Grizzlies are starting the season off on the right foot after their 115-112 win over the New York Knicks in Memphis. Ja Morant led all scorers with 34 points. Memphis will look to keep the momentum going tomorrow when they play the Rockets in Houston.
