The National Weather Service says elevated fire dangers are expected for today as dry conditions and low humidity continues along with breezy northwest winds.

Meanwhile, a fire Friday afternoon destroyed a Princeton home and other items.  The bean field fire on Maple Street engulfed a home along with vehicles and farm equipment.  Two Princeton firemen were treated following the blaze.

On top of the dry conditions, a freeze warning has been issued for this evening by the National Weather Service.  Subfreezing temperatures are expected this evening from 9 pm tonight through 9 am tomorrow morning.

Paducah police are searching for a missing teenager.  Investigators say 16-year-old Eli Whitney was last seen at 1730 North 11th street.  Whitney is described as a black male, 5 feet 10 and weighing 16o pounds.  He has black hair and brown eyes.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Paducah Police at 270-444-8850.

A traffic stop in Fulton Saturday leads to the arrest of a Minnesota woman.  West Kentucky Star.com reports authorities took Deanna Kooz into custody after learning she allegedly abducted her daughter outside a medica facility in Brooklyn Center, MN.

Kooz reportedly was attempting to keep her daughter from taking a COVID-19 vaccination.  She is being held on a 250-thousand dollar bond while awaiting extradition back to Minnesota.

SPORTS

HS Soccer:  The KHSAA State Tournament begins today with eight boys matches.  Action includes 1st region winner McCracken County visiting 4th region champ Bowling Green.

On the girls side, 1st region champion Marshall County visits 5th region winner Elizabethtown.

HS Volleyball:  4th District action has Calloway County hosting Marshall County at 7:30 after Murray High opens play at 5:30 against Christian Fellowship.  The championship match is tomorrow night at 6.

Murray State Sports:  Racer football coach Dean Hood’s weekly Hey Coach show tapes at noon today and will air tonight at 6 on Froggy 103.7.  After being routed at Austin Peay on Saturday, the Racers are back in action Saturday afternoon at Lindenwood with pregame at 12:30 also on Froggy 103.7.

Murray State’s women’s soccer team had its final home match of the regular season yesterday and lost 2-1 to Valparaiso  in Missouri Valley Conference play at Cutchin Field. The Racers close out the season with a Thursday afternoon match at Northern Iowa and visit Drake on Saturday.

Murray State’s volleyball team split weekend matches winning three sets to two Friday night at Missouri State and falling 3-0 at Southern Illinois on Saturday/  The Racers host Bradley Friday night at 6 and welcome Illinois State Saturday afternoon at 3 in Racer Arena.

Murray State’s basketball season is fast approaching and the annual Racermania event for the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be Thursday night at the CFSB Center.  The event begins at 7 with the doors opening at 6:15.  All fans are invited and admission is free.
