With the continued dry weather expected for the next several days, Calloway Judge Executive Kenny Imes issued a burn ban until further notice Monday.
A traffic note, the Murray Works Department says South 11th Street will be closed from Pogue Avenue to Story Avenue through Friday at 5 pm. The closure is for stormwater infrastructure repair.
A Graves County man was arrested on drug related charges Monday. West Kentucky Star.com reports 48-year-old Donald R. Isbell of Clinton was taken into custody after Graves County Sheriff’s deputies stopped to check on a vehicle sitting on the shoulder of US 45. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the reported discovery of crystal meth. Isbell was also charged with failure to have insurance.
Kentucky State Police at Mayfield are searching for a suspect in connection with theft of gas from a Sedalia convenience store on Friday. According to a news release, the incident happened around 1:45 Friday afternoon with the truck in question last seen heading east on Kentucky 339.
Murray State University’s departments of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences and Chemistry have been awarded National Science Foundation major research instrumentation grants. The grants total more than $1.3 million according to a news release.
Applications are being accepted this month for those who want to become Kentucky State Police troopers. According to a news release, current law enforcement officers may also apply for the accelerated program. The deadline to apply is October 28th, with the new cadet class to begin next February 28th.

Murray State freshman midfielder Mary Hardy has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week. Hardy had the game winning goal in the Racers 3-1 win over Indiana State, the first MVC win for the Racers. Murray State’s women’s soccer team is back in action Thursday at Missouri State.
