The owner of the Golden State Warriors is lighter in the pocket. Joe Lacob has been fined 50-thousand-dollars by the NBA for saying he doesn’t want to trade for Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons. The league cites the fine as a violation of the league’s anti-tampering rule. Lacob made the comments in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle. The disgruntled 76er has doubled down on his trade request and told the organization he will not report to training camp.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown is the latest player to land on the COVID-19 list. Brown will likely miss Sunday’s game against the Rams in Los Angeles. NHL Says Kane Didn’t Bet On His Own Games
(New York, NY) — San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane is no longer being investigated for betting on his own games. The NHL announced Wednesday that it completed its investigation into Kane and found no evidence that he bet on his games or made an effort to negatively impact the team. That investigation was started after Kane’s wife, Deanna publicly accused him of the betting on her social media. The league says it considers the matter closed, but will now be opening a new investigation against Kane. That was brought on by “unrelated allegations of potential wrongdoing that were brought to the league’s attention.”
