Cards get Swept
Cardinals relievers faltered late, giving up six-runs in the eighth inning, in a 8-4 loss to the Braves at Busch Stadium. Giovanny Gallegos was tagged with the loss and the blown save. Andrew Knizner homered for St. Louis, which dropped its third straight. The Cards host the Royals tonight.
Former St. Louis Ram make Hall
Isaac Bruce is finally entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The former St. Louis Ram receiver will be inducted tomorrow in Canton, Ohio as a member of the centennial class of 2020. Last year’s induction was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The four-time Pro-Bowler was the leading wide receiver of “The Greatest Show on Turf”. Bruce helped the 1999 St. Louis Rams win the Super Bowl.
New QB for Titans
The Titans made some roster moves in their quarterback room. Tennessee signed Matt Barkley as a backup and waived DeShone Kizer to open the roster spot. Barkley spent the last three seasons in Buffalo as a backup.
Titans one of NFL’s Least Valuable Teams
The Tennessee Titans are the NFL’s 28th most valuable team. Forbes puts the Titans value at two-point-six-two-five-billion dollars, which is a 14-percent increase over last year. Despite the overall increase in value, Forbes says the Titans posted a negative operating income of 12-million dollars. The Dallas Cowboys hold the top spot for the 15th straight year at six-and-half-billion dollars. The New England Patriots, New York Giants, Los Angeles Rams and The Washington Football Team round out the top five.
SEC Commish Gets Extension
The commissioner of the Southeastern Conference is getting a contract extension. Greg Sankey will stay in his job through 2026 thanks to his new deal. The extension comes after the SEC recently announced the Universities of Texas and Oklahoma will join the conference in July of 2025. Sankey has been in his position since June of 201
Murray Cornerback Named to Awards Watch List
Murray State football cornerback Marcis Floyd has been named to the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List, Stat Perform announced Thursday. The award is given annually by the organization to recognize the nation’s top FCS defensive player.
The redshirt junior racked up 32 tackles, three interceptions, nine pass breakups and two forced fumbles last spring. He returned one of his interceptions for a touchdown in the Racers’ 24-21 win at Southeast Missouri Mar. 7.
