UT MARTIN CLAIMS OVC MEN’S GOLF TITLE; HUNT CALLS IT A CAREER
UT Martin shot a final round 292 to finish at 861 and claim the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championship by 2 strokes on the final day of play in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. With the victory, UT Martin earned the OVC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Championship with the field to be announced on May 5. Belmont’s Evan Davis and UT Martin’s Jack Story shared medalist honors at 204. Because Story was a member of the winning team, Davis earns the automatic individual bid to play in the NCAA Regional. Davis is the second Belmont medalist while Story is the fourth from UT Martin. Murray State’s Avery Edwards fired a final round 73 and finished with a share of tenth placed at 218. It was the final match as head coach for Racer head coach Eddie Hunt who is retiring after 20 years. When the play was finished, Hunt’s fellow OVC coaches recognized him with a signed OVC pin flag.
