A Dexter man died in a traffic accident in northern Calloway County Sunday night.  The Calloway County Sheriff’s Department says the mishap occurred around 8:30 on McElrath Road.  Investigators found a pickup truck had run off the road and hit a tree.  69-year-old Ricky Bunch died in the mishap.  Investigators say Bunch had prior medical issues but the cause of the accident is not known.

A Benton man was arrested following a traffic stop in Calloway County.  A Calloway County sheriff’s deputy was doing a radar check on Radio Road when a vehicle operated by 44-year-old William Mason was spotted committing a traffic violation.  When the vehicle was stopped, investigators found hydrocodone pills in it.  Mason was jailed on possession of a controlled substance and no proof of insurance.

A Hazel man faces a number of charges after a Valentine’s Day incident in which he reportedly held his ex-girl friend and her juvenile daughter overnight against their will.  33-year-old Dorsey Hutson was arrested last Friday after deputies received a call he was at the woman’s home a second time.  The pursuit led officers to Henry County,TN where it ended, however, Hutson was arrested at his Hazel home later that day.

Governor Beshear says Kentucky’s economic revenue for January was the best in terms of state revenue in history.  Revenues were $1.2 billion last month, $75 million more than a year ago.  He added state revenues have increased 7.6 percent in the first seven months of fiscal year 2023.

Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron is pushing back against gun control policies.  Cameron has joined a coalition of 24 states in filing a lawsuit.  The suit opposes the rewrite of federal firearm regulations by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives which would require Americans to register certain pistols.  Cameron said he joined the lawsuit “to protect the Second Amendment rights of Kentuckians and stop the President from pushing gun-control policies.”
