College Basketball:   Murray State’s women’s team plays its final non conference game this evening on the road at Bellarmine.  Tip off from Louisville’s Freedom Hall is at 5:30 with pre game coverage beginning at 5 on WNBS.

Meanwhile, the Racer men’s team heads out today for a Wednesday night game at Middle Tennessee.  Tip off from the Murphy Center is at 6 with pregame at 5:30 on Froggy 103.7.

Last night in the Missouri Valley Conference:   Illinois State downed Chicago State 66-52 and Bradley rolled over Stonehill 79-50.

Tonight’s games have 17th ranked Mississippi State hosting Drake and UIC visits Northwestern.

Murray State swept the Player of the Week awards in the Missouri Valley Conference.  The league announced Monday DJ Burns is this week’s Men’s Player of the Week and Katelyn Young is the Women’s Player of the Week.

Burns had 18 points and 14 rebounds in last week’s comeback win over Chicago State and added 15 points and eight boards against Austin Peay.  Young had a career high 32 points in the loss against Austin Peay and added 14 in the win over Kentucky on Friday.

One of the best to wear the Murray State navy and gold will have his number retired next month at the CFSB Center.  Cameron Payne-who played for the Racers from 2013-15-will have his number one retired at halftime of the January 14th game against UIC. Payne scored more than 12 hundred points and had nearly 400 assists while with the Racers. He was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft and is currently with the Phoenix Suns.

HS Basketball:  Murray High defeated Mayfield 57-39 last night to improve to 5-4 on the season/The Tigers are back in action today as they meet Louisville Ballard in the Rumble on the River at Paducah Tilghman.  Tip off is at 1:30 with pre game at 1 on WNBS.

Calloway County’s boys are also in action today.  The Lakers take on West Jessamine in the Central Bank-Jim Rose Classic at Lexington Christian.  Tip off is at 7:30.
