Murray Police report the arrest of four Florida men Thursday on charges of attempting to pass counterfeit bills.  According to a news release Friday afternoon, 27-year-old Jason Smalls of Orlando, 19-year-old Malik Jones of Tampa, 18-year-old Travis Jones of Tampa and 19-year-old Jimmie Council of Sefner are accused of attempting to pass the bills inside a local business.  Murray police were assisted in the investigation by Murray State University police.

For the second time in two weeks, a bridge on South Road near downtown Cadiz was closed again for a time Sunday following the discovery of a grenade.  Cadiz police say the same person who was magnet fishing on the bridge December 4th discovered the grenade.  It was taken to Fort Campbell by a bomb squad to be disposed.

Murray State University has selected a new director of its Paducah campus.  According to a news release, Karami Underwood comes from the field of skilled nursing facility health care management and marketing.  Underwood is a 2005 grad of Murray State and has a masters degree from the University of Alabama obtained in 2010.

The coldest temperatures of the season are arriving just in time for Christmas.  It’s going to be the coldest at the holiday in 20 years according to the National Weather Service.  Subfreezing temperatures with highs in the teens Friday through Sunday and near zero for lows.  Wind chills could be as low as -15 on Friday and Saturday morning.  There’s also some indication of a possible white Christmas too.  Two forecast models say there’s a 90 percent chance of an inch of snow by Thursday and a 40 percent chance of three inches of accumulation.
