After a week where there was several rainy days, the National Weather Service says colder temperatures will make it feel more like Christmas in the region.  Forecasters say temps will be 15 to 20 degrees colder than what we’ve experienced this week.

Current models are suggesting temperatures for the Christmas weekend highs could be in the teens with lows in single digits and subzero wind chills.  As far as a white Christmas is concerned, the probability is low right now.

If you hear Calloway County’s emergency sirens sounding this morning, there is not a warning.  Calloway County Emergency Management officials say the sirens will be sounded around 9 am to make sure they are working correctly.

Construction work at the Calloway County Public Library is continuing despite some delays.  The Murray Ledger and Times reports days are being lost because of a window glazing contractor not doing its part to finish work on the library’s addition.  The new portion was slated to be open by mid month, but now that’s been delayed.

The Kentucky Supreme Court Thursday struck down a state law that allowed donors to receive tax credits for supporting private school tuition.  In its unanimous decision, justices said the measure passed in 2021 violated the state’s constitution.

The measure created a form of scholarship tax credits, called by supporters “education opportunity accounts.”  Under the measure private donors backing the accounty would be eligible for tax credits. The measure had been passed by the Republican dominated state legislature over Governor Beshear’s veto.
