The National Weather Service says we could see a slight risk of severe weather today. A potent storm system will pass just north of the area today through tomorrow producing scattered strong thunderstorms ahead of a cold front that will go through the area. A few severe storms are possible with damaging winds and even a brief tornado.

As the one year anniversary of the December 10th deadly tornado in western Kentucky approaches, Governor Beshear says he’s pleased with the progress in recovery.

Beshear told WKDZ Radio in a recent visit to Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park progress has been made but there is still more to do. The governor visited with first responders from the Dawson Springs area just before Thanksgiving.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a vehicle used in the theft of a trailer on October 21st. According to a Facebook post, an unknown subject took a Hyline Park model camper from Camp-O-Rama in Draffenville.

The vehicle appears to a white newer model Jeep Trai; Hawk. Anyone with information is asked to call the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 270-527-3112.

A Paducah man is jailed on drug related charges following an overdose call and subsequent arrest last Tuesday. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release yesterday when they were called to a home occupied by 25-year-old Neville “Jackson” Hawes, he was allegedly overdosing on Fentanyl.

A search of the home netted several Fentanyl pills and drug parapheneilia. Hawes is in the McCracken County jail and the investigation is continuing.

A Marshall County school bus was involved in a traffic accident Monday morning. According to a news release from Marshall County

Schools, the mishap occurred on Industrial Parkway in Calvert City. The bus was rear ended by a pickup truck. Neither the bus driver or two students who were on the bus were hurt.

The body of former Kentucky Governor John Y. Brown, Jr. will lie in state today at the State Capitol in Frankfort. The 88-year-old Brown died last week. A private memorial service will be held tomorrow.
