
The Murray Ledger and Times reported in its weekend edition a local woman recently arrested on theft charges will make a court appearance next month. 35-year-old Dawn Metcalf faces charges in two separate cases of stealing $22-thousand in insurance payments from an elderly man. She waived her right to a preliminary hearing last week and will appear in Calloway Circuit Court on December 6th.
A Livingston County man was arrested on drug related charges following a traffic stop in Paducah Saturday. West Kentucky Star.com reports 53-year-old Wesley A. Fox of Salem was stopped by the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department around 10:30 am on Benton Road. Investigators allegedly found 28 grams of methamphetamine, 14 grams of marijuana, suboxone and cash.
Foul play is not suspected in the death of a Christian County man who was found in a burning vehicle Saturday night. WHOP Radio reports 84-year-old Donald Franklin Jackson of Crofton was found in the vehicle around 5:30 on A. Jackson Road. An autopsy is to be conducted to determine if a medical condition may have led to Jackson’s death. The investigation is continuing.
The body of former Governor John y. Brown Jr.– who was 88 when he passed away one week ago — will lie in state at the state capitol tomorrow from 10 a-m to 7 p-m Eastern time. The public is invited to attend. Brown served as governor from 1979 to 1983, during tough economic times, budget cuts and high unemployment.
Brown had turned Kentucky Fried Chicken into a global restaurant chain before he entered politics. Governor Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state office buildings flown at half-staff until his burial. A private memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday.
