Governor Beshear will make a statement concerning medical marijuana today. Beshear has been a proponnet of legalizing medical marijuana and has had at task force holding public hearings on the topic across the state. He will speak at noon Central time in Frankfort.

The trial of a man accused in the shooting death of De’Andre Palmer of Oak Grove in 2016 was again delayed in Christian Circuit Court Monday. WHOP Radio reports 24-year-old Dequavian James’ trial has been delayed until January 30th after his attorney asked for the change due to a schedule conflict this week. Miller pled guilty to charges last year as part of a plea deal that also came with a 40 year prison term.

National Weather Service officials say the extreme drought conditions in Western Kentucky have meade a slight improvement. According to West Kentucky Star.com, last week’s Drought Monitor from the Department of Agriculture shows recent timely rains have allowed all western Kentucky counties to improve to severe drought status. However, many areas are still more than five inches below normal rainfall since September 1st.

The Weakley County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Department has lost one of its own. Captain Marty Plunk has died. According to a Facebook post, Plunk passed away on Sunday. He served in a number or roles since he began duties on November 11, 1999.
