
Former US Representative Carroll Hubbard died Saturday in Paducah at the age of 85. Hubbard began his political career in 1967 as a Kentucky State Senator and served in the post until 1974, when he was elected to his first of several terms as Representative from Kentucky’s 1st District in the US House. After losing his re-election bid in 1992, he later ran three more times to serve in the Kentucky senate. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield.
Murray police investigated a two vehicle accident which occurred Saturday afternoon around 12:30 at the intersection of 12th Street and Sycamore Lane. According to the report, a vehicle operated by 52-year-old Roseanne Elliot of Cedar Grove, TN was attempting a left turn onto 12th Street when it struck a truck driven by 48-year-old Jerry Millard of Almo. Elliot was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment of possible injuries while Millard was not hurt.
One man was arrested and another is still at large following a major drug bust in Princeton last Thursday. WPKY Radio reports Princeton police found $500-thousand in drugs along with two weapons and cash at a Princeton residence. 21-year-old Juan Rosales is jailed while 22-year-old Jameer Riley remains at large. Anyone with information on Riley’s whereabouts is asked to contact Princeton police.
A Saturday night traffic stop in Mayfield leads to the arrest of an Erin, Tennessee woman. West Kentucky Star.com reports 25-year-old Mercedes Ray was arrested following the stop on Copeland Street when methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia was found in her vehicle.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a series of mailbox vandalisms, particularly occurring In the southern part of the county. Sheriff Brent White said in a Facebook post Saturday if your mailbox has been damaged or if you have information on the incidents, contact his office.
