
A Graves County man was killed in an apparent farming accident Tuesday. The Graves County Sheriff’s Department says 60-year-old Mark T. DIel of Kirksey was found dead under a bulldozer in the 600 block of Parker Road in the Gold/Kirksey area. Investigators say Diel
had been working on the dozer when it apparently rolled backwards onto him.
A Hopkins County man died in a hit and run early Wednesday morning. According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, 30-year-old Zachary Higgins of Hanson was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Tippett Road just before 1 am.
Investigators determined it was a hit and run due to Higgins’ injuries and evidence found at the scene. Authorities are also searching for the vehicle that hit Higgins.
Sentencing was rescheduled Wednesday for an Oak Grove woman found guilty in the 2020 death of her teenage daughter. WHOP Radio reports 50-year-old Patricia Conyers entered an Alford plea last month to a second degree manslaughter charge as part of a deal that comes with a recommended five-year sentence. Final sentencing is slated for December 14th.
Despite losing the 42nd Circuit Judicial race Tuesday, Judge Jamey Jameson is continuing with his appeal of the Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission’s ruling in his misconduct case. Jameson told WPSD Wednesday he was not backing down from their decision and added he believes it cost him re-election Tuesday. He lost to Andrea Moore.
