The Trigg County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in searching for a suspect and a stolen vehicle. According to a news release, the white Chevrolet Trailblazer was allegedly taken from an Avalon Drive location just after 7:30 Sunday morning. The Kentucky license plate number is B7X-644. Anyone who has information about the vehicle or the suspect is asked to contact the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department.

Kentucky State Police located an interviewed a Crittenden County man Saturday in connection with a reported assault on October 20th in Livingston County. According to a news release, 54-year-old Charles E. Walker of Marion was reported to be the last person seen with the assault victim. The investigation is continuing.

Calloway County is among several in the western part of Kentucky that will receive state funding for projects to provide for clean drinking water and improve water infrastructure.

According to a news release, Calloway County will receive $2.2 million for three projects including delivering clean water to 60 homes that don’t currently have water service while another project will deliver clean water to 23 homes that currently rely on wells. The more than $217 million area counties are receiving for projects come from the second round of Governor Beshear’s Cleaner Water program.

Governor Beshear is renewing his push for higher teacher salaries and state funded preschool for four year olds. Beshear’s comments came late last week in response to statewide test scores showing setbacks for many students due to COVID 19.

The governor is urging the state legislature to reopen the state budget next year to provide more funding for schools. However, republican Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer says there are currently no plans to reopen the budget when lawmakers meet next year.

The recent Paducky Derby for the Merryman house Domestic Crisis Center set a new fund raising record. Officials say the 8th annual event raised a record $130 thousand. Over 17-thousand ducks were adopted for the event and the winning duck was adopted by Hardin Baptist Church.  Froggy 103.7 was a sponsor of the event.

SPORTS

HS Football: The Murray High Tigers begin play in the Class 2-A state playoffs Friday night on the road at Butler County at 7:30. Pregame coverage from Morgantown begins at 6:30 on WNBS.

HS Volleyball: First round games in the KHSAA State Tournament begin this evening at regional winner sites. 1st Region champion McCracken County hosts North Oldham, with 2nd region winner Madisonville hosting Mercy. Tonight’s eight winners of first round matches will move to the quarterfinals that will be played Friday at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, with the semi finals and final scheduled for Saturday.

Murray State Sports: Murray State football coach Dean Hood’s Hey Coach show will be recorded at noon today at the Big Apple Bar and Grill and be replayed at 6 this evening on Froggy 103.7. The Racers are off this week following a 19-3 Homecoming win Saturday over Tennessee State.

Murray State’s basketball teams will play exhibition games this week. The women’s team hosts Bethel tomorrow night at 6 with pre game at 5:30 on WNBS.

The men’s team welcomes Brescia Wednesday night at 7 with pre game at 6:30 on Froggy 103.7.

Murray State’s women’s soccer team picked up a 2-1 double overtime win at Southern Illinois in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament Sunday. The Racers advance to the semifinals to meet Valparaiso Thursday night at Valparaiso.

College Basketball: In a low scoring exhibition game at Rupp Arena Sunday, Kentucky defeated Missouri Western 56-30 and Louisville lost in exhibition play to Lenoir-Rhyne 57-47.

College Football: Following its 44-6 thrashing of then 19th ranked Kentucky Saturday night in Knoxville, the Tennessee Vols are ranked 2nd along with Ohio State in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll. Georgia is number one for the fourth straight week. Incidentally, the first College Football playoff rankings of the season come out tomorrow night.

NFL: Derrick Henry had 291 rushing yards and two scores as the Tennessee Titans defeated the Houston Texans 17-10. The Titans visit Kansas City next Sunday.

NBA: Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies are back in action this evening at the Utah Jazz. Tip off is at 8 pm.
