
HS Soccer: KHSAA Boys State Tournament action saw Bowling Green edge McCracken County 2-1 in a shootout and penalty kicks.
HS Volleyball: In the 4th District championship match, Marshall County edged Christian Fellowship three sets to two. Both teams will advance to next week’s 1st region tournament.
College Basketball: The Missouri Valley Conference women’s preseason poll was released Tuesday with Belmont picked to win the league with Murray State fourth behind Illinois State and Drake. Northern Iowa is ranked fifth followed by Misosuri State, Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Evansville, Valparaiso, Bradley and Illinois Chicago.
Murray State’s Katelyn Young was named to the MVC Pre Season All Conference Team with Belmont’s Destinee Wells named not only to the All Conference team, but as the Preseason Player of the Year.
The Missouri Valley will announce its Men’s Preseason poll and All Conference team today.
Murray State basketball’s annual Racermania event for the men’s and women’s teams will be Thursday night at the CFSB Center. The event begins at 7 with doors opening at 6:15. All fans are invited and admission is free.
College Football: The goalposts are back up at Neyland Stadium. Fans stormed the field on Saturday after UT’s historic win against Alabama carrying the goalposts out of the stadium and throwing them into the Tennessee River. The university was successful in its fundraising aim of 150-thousand dollars to replace the posts which were put in place yesterday. The Vols welcome UT Martin Saturday.
