The National Weather Service says the Red Flag warning will continue across Western Kentucky again today. It will be in effect from noon until 7pm. Strong winds and low humidities remain in place which could lead to catastrophic fires.

Meanwhile three more counties have issued burn bans. Graves, Lyon and Marshall counties have joined the list in Western Kentucky. WPSD reports the Land Between the Lakes area has also joined the list.

Four people are hospitalized in Paducah following a two vehicle accident in Graves County Thursday. West Kentucky Star reports the mishap took place around 5:15 on US Highway 45 North at Hickory Road.

67-year-old Debra Malone told investigators the sun was in her eyes and she did not see the southbound vehicle operated by 30-year-old Therissa Morris also of Mayfield. Morris and two juveniles were take to Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital while Malone was taken to Baptist Hospital.

A federal grand jury has indicted a Livingston County man. West Kentucky Star,com reports 51-year-old Charles Hopkins is accused of conspiracy to sell shovelnose sturgeon. The indictment alleges Hopkins did these acts in 2016, 2017 and 2018. If convicted, Hopkins will face up to five years in prison with no opportunity for parole.

Kentuckians convicted of simple marijuana possession can now apply for pardons from the governor. Governor Andy Beshear spoke at length about the issue during his weekly Team Kentucky update in Frankfort yesterday. Beshear says his administration is still looking for more information from President Biden about his recent announcement about federal pardons for marijuana possession.

 

SPORTS

HS Soccer: The Boys 1st Region title game saw McCracken County blank Marshall County 2-0.

HS Volleyball: Calloway County blanked Murray High three sets to none in the final regular season match. Both teams begin district tournament play next week.

HS Football: Both Murray High and Calloway County return to action tonight. The Tigers visit Caldwell County with pregame at 6 on WNBS. Hopkinsville comes to town to meet Calloway County with pregame at 6:30 on WBZB.

College Football: Murray State renews its rivalry with Austin Peay on Saturday in Clarksville. Pregame coverage from Fortera Stadium airs at 2:30 on Froggy 103.7.

Other college football tomorrow includes Kentucky welcoming Mississippi State, Tennessee entertains Alabama and Vanderbilt visits Georgia.

College Soccer: Murray State’s women’s team fell in Missouri Valley Conference action at Southern Illinois 1-0 last night. The Racers close out the home portion of the regular season hosting Valparaiso Sundayafternoon.

NBA: Ja Morant had 31 points as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Detroit Pistons 126-111 in preseason action. The Grizzlies open the new season Wednesday night hosting the New York Knicks.

NHL: The Nashville Predators lost their home opener 4-1 to the Dallas Stars. The teams complete the home and home series tomorrow night in Dallas.
