According to a social media post from the Murray-Calloway Economic Development Corporation, IPACKCHEM Group-a leading manufacturer of engineered plastic blow molded products-is acquiring TPG Plastics to bring its barrier packaging to North America.

TPG has a state of the art manufacturing facility in Murray and is a premier supplier of portable fuel container and engineered blow metal products.  It’s projected IPACKCHEM will have crop protection products in North America in the 2023-24 season.

WPSD reports a jury has awarded over $19 million to the estate of a man stabbed to death at the Princeton Elks Lodge in Caldwell County in 2017.  50-yer-old William Grant Beckner was killed by Joseph Anderson-who was a part time bartender.  Anderson was found guilty of the crime in 2018.

Two Paducah residents were arrested Sunday on several drug related charges.  The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department says 22-year-old Preston Booher and 20-year-old Kaitlyn Younger were arrested at a Noble Road residence after a search reportedly netted several hundred pills containing fentanyl along with several hundred pounds of marijuana and over $16-thousand in cash.  Both Booher and Younger were lodged in the McCracken County jail.

West Kentucky Star.com reports five Western Kentucky counties are under surveillance for deer disease.  The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Department established a Chronic Wasting Disease Surveillance Zone in Calloway, Fulton  Marshall, Graves and HIckman Counties last year after a deer tested positive in Tennessee. The special regulations will help officials detect and contain any potential disease s[read.

A former Marshall County teacher who began her career in Christian County is one of three to be inducted into the Kentucky Teachers Hall of Fame.   Wilma Pace is being honored posthumously.  She began her teaching career in Marshall County in 1946 and taught for 29 years.  She passed away in 2012 at the age of 92.

SPORTS

High School Soccer:  Murray High’s girls lost 2-1 to McCracken Couty in the semifinals of the 1st Region tournament Monday.  Marshall County won the other semifinal 4-0 over St. Mary.  Marshall County faces host McCracken County in the final Wednesday.

The Boys 1st Region semifinals take place today as Calloway County faces McCracken County and Marshall County welcomes Paducah Tilghman.
