The Murray Ledger and Times reports Calloway County Circui Court Clerk Linda Avery has been appointed to the Kentucky Judicial Commission on Mentral Health. The Kentucky Supreme Court recently launched the commission to enhance the court system’s response to justice involved individuals dealing with mental issues, substance use or intellectual disabilities.

A mayoral candidate in Princeton has died following a battle with cancer. Edward Schmitt was a three time city councilmAn in the Caldwell County city.

West Kentucky Star.com reports the Graves County Sheriff’s Department is expected to release more information in regards to recent trafficking of fentanyl and other drugs in Graves, Hickman and Carlisle counties. Undercover purchases have been made in all three counties, with ore than 900 suspected doses of fentanyl being sold as 30 milligram Perocets. One person has died and several overdoses have been reported in Graves County.

Governor Beshear has declared October as Manufacturing Month in Kentucky. The manufacturing sector employs about 250-thousand Kentuckians across five thousand operations. since the start of the Beshear administration, manufacturing projects have contributed to 475 private sector new location and expansion announcements that are creating more than 25-thousand full time jobs for Kentuckians.

Motorcycle crashes are on the rise in Kentucky. That’s according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet who says the number of people dying in crashes involving bikes has been increasing. There were 85 deaths in motorcycle-related crashes in 2020 and that number grew to 99 last year. Transport officials say bikers are 28 times more likely to die on the road than those in cars.
It’s wildfire season in Kentucky. Forest officials say Kentucky is in a drought at the moment making it even more important than normal to follow guidance regarding fires. No one within 150-feet of woodland and brush is allowed to light fires between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. until December 15th. Murray State’s football team continues preparations for Saturday afternoon’s Ohio Valley Conference home date with UT Martin. Kickoff at Roy Stewart Stadium is at 2, with pregame at 1:30 on Froggy 103.7.

Both Calloway County and Murray High wrap up preparation today for Friday night football action. The Lakers visit Hopkins Central with pregame at 6:30 on WBZB while the Tigers welcome Ballard Memorial to Ty Holland Stadium for Homecoming. Pregame at 6:30 on WNBS.

Tennessee is welcoming back a player on defense. The team activated Monty Rice yesterday from the physically unable to perform list. The linebacker recorded 30 tackles in 10 games last season before suffering an injury. The 2021 third-round pick will have a chance to play on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.

Murray State’s women’s soccer team is in action today on the road against the current top team in the Missouri Valley Conference in Missouri State. The Bears are 4-0-1 in conference play while the Racers recently got their first Valley win over Indiana State.

The St. Louis Cardinals closed out the 2022 regular season with a 5-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates s. The Cardinals finished the regular season at the top of the NL Central with a 93-and-69 record.  The Cardinals are getting ready for their NL Wild Card series with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Cardinals will host every game of the best-of-three set. The Cardinals went 3-and-4 against Philadelphia during the regular season. . The first game gets underway tomorrow at 1:07PM and can be heard on WNBS.
