Fall is the peak season for deer-vehicle collissions. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has issued its annual “Antler Alert” to remind motorists there will be an increase of collissions involving deer over the last three months of the year. Three people died in deer-vehicle collissions in 2021 according to figures released by the KTC.

A suspect wanted in connection with takng gas from a Sedalia convienece store last Friday has resolved the issue. Kentucky State Police at Mayfield had been searching for the owner of a red Ford truck who took off without paying for the fuel at Bob and Ann’s Market. No further details wereprovided in a news release.

Murray State University’s School of Nursing and Health Professions has been awarded a more than 307-thousand dollar geant from the Kentucky Council on Post Secondary Educations’s Workforce Devlopment Collaborative. The funding will be used for a partnership between the school and Murray-Calloway County Hospital to develop a Dedicated Education Unit to deliver quality clinical nursng education.

The Kentucky Council on Post Secondary Education has announced a statewide plan to remove banners preventing adults from returning to college or for first time enrollment. The plan calls for a one-stop student information portal that includes available financial aid. The plan also proposes expanding financial aid and simplifying admissions.

The Tennessee National Guard is still helping in Florida after Hurricane Ian. The hurricane made landfall in Southwest Florida last week and 12-hundred troopers from Tennessee were ready to help after it passed through. Some of those sent down are still in Florida helping recovery efforts in the worst-impacted areas like Fort Myers. Specially trained dogs are being used by troopers to help find people trapped in rubble and debris.

Tennesseans are paying tribute to country music legend Loretta Lynn who passed away yesterday. Lynn died at her ranch in the Humphreys County town of Hurricane Mills. Fans are paying tribute outside the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville where there is a statue of Lynn. The Coal Miner’s Daughter died at the age of 90 and tributes from the country music world have been pouring in since news broke of her passing.

Ninety-percent of Kentuckians support legalizing medical marijuana. That’s according to Governor Andy Beshear and the Team Kentucky Medical Cannabis Advisory. The panel was established by the governor who on Friday said medical cannabis is supported by an overwhelming majority of people across the state. Marijuana legalization is on the ballot in many states across the country in next month’s elections but the issue will not be voted on in Kentucky.

Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell is yet to respond to comments made by former President Trump that he has a “death wish.” Trump recently made the statement on his social media platform Truth Social and was referring to McConnell’s support of recent Democrat-proposed bills in the US Senate. McConnell’s former aide Scott Jennings called Trump’s statement “assassination instructions.” The Republican Party has largely remained quiet on the issue. Liz Cheney is the only federal Republican lawmaker to publicly criticize the comments saying they “could well cause violence” against McConnell.

Louisville’s starting quarterback is dealing with concussion-like symptoms. Malik Cunningham left the team’s game against Boston College on Saturday due to an undisclosed injury. The Cards went on to lose the game 34-33. Head coach Scott Satterfield told reporters the star quarterback is day-to-day and his status for this weekend’s game is uncertain. Louisville heads to Albemarle County to play Virginia on Saturday.

The Tennessee Volunteers are looking to go to five-and-oh on the season. Josh Heupel’s side is undefeated through the first four games of the year and is ranked eighth in the nation by the Coaches Poll. The Vols have not had a five-and-oh record since the 2016 season. UT is slightly favored heading into the matchup against the Louisiana State Tigers on Saturday in Baton Rouge.

Kentucky Wildcats basketball fans can finally mark their calendars with all the games for the 2022-23 season. The full slate of games was released yesterday with 13 nonconference matchups announced. There are only 33 days until the season tips off when UK host Howard University in Lexington on November 7th. All Wildcats games will be shown on TV this year including a game across the pond in London against Michigan on December 4th.

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel says the officiating was questionable during the team’s 24-17 win over the Colts in Indianapolis. Vrabel spoke to the media and said the defense played well against the run, but defensive lineman Justin Simmons “got tackled” a couple of times during the game. Vrabel said the star lineman was getting grabbed several times during the game and the officials apparently saw things differently. The team held Colts’ running back Jonathan Taylor to just 42 yards on the ground.

The Titans are making several roster moves ahead of their Week Five matchup against the Commanders. The team signed defensive lineman Sam Okuayinonu [[oh-ku-eye-no-nu]] to the active roster and waived linebacker Wyatt Ray. The team also signed defensive back Shyheim Carter and running back Julius Chestnut to the practice squad. Offensive lineman Christian DiLaurio was released to make room for the additions. Tennessee visits Washington on Sunday.

Juan Yepez hit a go-ahead single in the top of the tenth as the Cardinals beat the Pirates 8-7 at PNC Park. The Cardinals scored four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at seven and send it to extras. Albert Pujols and Corey Dickerson each had a pair of RBI in the victory, and Chris Stratton earned his tenth win of the season out of the bullpen. The Cardinals improve to 93-and-68.
