Harlem Globetrotters Coming To CFSB Center – Feb. 2The worldwide sensation Harlem Globetrotters have announced they will return to Murray State University for an eighth time on February 2, 2022 beginning at 7 p.m. The Globetrotters give fans a chance to get close to the action and see the team’s stars with their Fan Powered World Tour. At each Globetrotters game, there will be over 20 opportunities before, during and after each event where fans will get a chance to directly interact with the players. Prior to the performance, fans can secure a ticket to Magic Pass, the Globetrotters’ exclusive pregame event. Magic Pass gives fans unprecedented access to the stars of the team, an opportunity to learn basketball tricks, shoot hoops and take pictures on the court. After each game, fans can participate in a free autograph session.

Stroman Agrees To Deal With Cubs(Chicago, IL)  —  The Cubs are adding a new ace.  Marcus Stroman has agreed to a three-year contract worth 71 million dollars with the Cubs.  The deal does include an opt out after the second season.  The 30-year-old right-hander tweeted “Chicago has always been one of my favorite cities,” and that he’s excited to get to work.

Blues Rematch With Lightning Tonight In Tampa(Tampa, FL)  —  The Blues are in Tampa for a rematch against the Lightning tonight.  St. Louis slipped past the Bolts 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday at home.  The Blues are now 12-7-and-3 on the season.

Grizzlies Host Oklahoma City Tonight(Memphis, TN)  —  The Grizzlies are back in the friendly confines of FedEx Forum after a trip to Toronto.  Memphis hosts the Oklahoma City Thunder.  Kyle Anderson is listed as questionable and rookie Ziaire Williams is listed as doubtful for tonight’s matchup.Predators Host Bruins(Nashville, TN)  —  The Preds are back in action on home ice.  Nashville hosts the Boston Bruins tonight.  The Predators are 12-9-and-1 after a 6-0 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.


Tony Allen Arrested In Collierville
(Collierville, TN)  —  Former Grizzlies star Tony Allen has found himself in some legal trouble.  Allen was arrested Sunday after a confrontation at his wife’s apartment in Collierville.  He is charged with domestic assault, domestic vandalism and interference with emergency calls in connection.  Allen pleaded not guilty and is free on a 500-thousand dollar personal recognizance bond.


MLB Enters First Official Lockout Since 1990
(Irving, TX)  —  The MLB is in a lockout.  The league officially locked out its Players Association for the first time since 1990 early Thursday Morning after the two sides couldn’t reach an agreement on a new labor deal.  MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred released a letter saying he’s disappointed but the goal is to protect the upcoming season.  During the lockout, team officials and players will not be allowed to communicate.  It’s the ninth work stoppage in total for major league baseball.The Murray High Lady Tigers travel to Trigg tonight for a 7:30 tip, that game can be heard on WNBS

UofL Falls To Michigan State, ACC Loses To Big Ten

(East Lansing, MI)  —  The UofL basketball team will have to bounce back from its second loss of the season.  The Cardinals fell to 5-and-2 this season with a, 73-64, loss to Michigan State in East Lansing last night.  The game was part of the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.  The ACC hasn’t won the showdown between the two conferences since 2017 with the Big Ten winning this year’s Challenge.

UT DB Will Skip Bowl Game

(Knoxville, TN)  —  The UT football team will be without a starting player when it plays in the postseason.  Defensive back Alontae Taylor announced yesterday he won’t play in Tennessee’s yet to be determined bowl game.  Taylor says he’ll skip the bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft.  He is expected to play in the Senior Bowl on February 5th.

Cowboys And Saints Meet On Thursday Night Football

(New Orleans, LA)  —  The Cowboys are hoping to snap a two-game losing skid as they visit the Saints in a Thursday Night showdown in New Orleans.  Dallas with be without head coach Mike McCarthy after he tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week for the 7-and-4 Cowboys.  New Orleans also feels the pressure as it has dropped four straight to fall to 5-and-6.  The team reportedly is preparing Taysom Hill to start in place of Trevor Siemian, who has failed to get a win in four starts.

Notre Dame Promoting DC Freeman To Head Coach

(Notre Dame, IN)  —  The Fighting Irish may have their next head football coach.  Notre Dame is reportedly expected to announce that defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman will take over the program from Brian Kelly, who left the school earlier this week to fill the vacant head coaching role at LSU.  The 35-year-old Freeman joined Notre Dame prior to this season after spending the preceding three years at Cincinnati.  Notre Dame is at number-six in the latest CFP rankings.


Report: Dodgers Bringing Back Chris Taylor

(Los Angeles, CA)  —  The Dodgers are bringing back their All-Star utility man.  The Athletic reports Los Angeles is signing Chris Taylor to a four-year deal, worth 60-million dollars.  It also includes a fifth year option to could raise the total to 73-million.  The 31-year-old was named an All-Star last season after he hit .254 with 20 home runs and 73 RBI.  The Dodgers had offered Taylor the qualifying offer earlier this offseason, but he turned it down to sign a long-term deal.

Red Sox Add To Rotation, Bring Back JBJ

(Boston, MA)  —  The Red Sox made some moves in free agency and added to their starting rotation.  Boston agreed to a one-year, 10-million-dollar contract with left-hander James Paxton.  The Sox have also come to terms with Milton native Rich Hill on a one-year deal.  Boston also traded Hunter Renfroe to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Jackie Bradley Jr. and infielders David Hamilton and Alex Binelas.

Seahawks Sign Adrian Peterson To Practice Squad

(Renton, WA)  —  The Seahawks are adding a future Hall of Famer to their backfield.  Seattle signed Adrian Peterson to its practice squad.  The Seahawks have dealt with a flurry of running back injuries, as Chris Carson has been out since Week Five with a neck injury, and Rashaad Penny and Travis Homer were both inactive against Washington with injuries.  36-year-old Peterson rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown in three games with the Titans this season.

Heat Lose Adebayo To Torn UCL

(Miami, FL)  —  Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo is undergoing surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.  Adebayo is expected to miss between 15 to 20 games as he takes four to six weeks to recover.  The 24-year-old suffered the injury during Miami’s loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday.  Dewayne Dedmon is likely to step into Adebayo’s place in the starting lineup.

Lillard Out At Least 10 Days With Ab Injury

(Portland, OR)  —  The Trail Blazers will be without their superstar for the next few days.  Portland announced Wednesday that Damian Lillard will miss at least 10 days because of lower abdominal tendinopathy.  He will miss at least four games due to the injury.  Lillard has averaged 21.5 points per game while shooting just over 30-percent from three-point range.  The guard has reportedly been dealing with abdominal pain since he competed in the Tokyo Olympics.

D-Backs Adding Reliever Mark Melancon

(Phoenix, AZ)  —  The Diamondbacks are filling a major need in their bullpen.  Arizona announced Wednesday that it agreed to a two-year deal with relief pitcher Mark Melancon. The contract is reportedly worth 14-million dollars.  The 36-year-old led the MLB last season with 39 saves for the Padres.  In his lone season in San Diego, Melancon recorded a 2.23 earned run average and 59 strikeouts over 64-and-two-thirds innings of work.

PGA Tour Heads To The Bahamas

(Albany, Bahamas)  —  The PGA Tour is in The Bahamas this week for the Hero World Challenge.  Round one action gets going today at Albany.  Defending champion Henrik Stenson is back looking to repeat.  He will be paired up with Viktor Hovland.  They will tee off just before the duo of Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele.
