High School Football Playoffs

In High School Football Playoff Action, Mayfied falls to Beechwood 38-7 to end their season in class 2A. Paducah-Tilghman defeated Glasgow 39-20, the Blue Tornado take on Belfry for the 3A State Title on Saturday. In Tennessee Martin Westview takes down Riverside 35-18, and will play Hampton for the 2A title Saturday. Henry County gets edged out 56-52 to Page County for their season to end in the 5A bracket.

Titans Drop Second Straight Game(Foxborough, MA)  —  The Tennessee Titans are on a two game losing streak.  They lost to the New England Patriots, 36-13, in Foxborough yesterday.  The loss drops the Titans to 8-and-4 this season following an NFL-best six-game winning streak.  They have next Sunday off before playing the Jacksonville Jaguars at Nissan Stadium on Sunday, December 12th.

UofL Thumped By UK In Governor’s Cup Game(Louisville, KY)  —  The regular season is over for the UofL football team.  The Cardinals were thumped by Kentucky, 52-21, in the Governor’s Cup game at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday night.  The loss drops the Cards to six-and-six this season.  It’s the third consecutive loss to UK for Louisville.

MSU Basketball Roundup

The Murray State women’s basketball team blew past Alabama A&M Saturday, 66-40, at the CFSB Center. The Racers struggled in the first quarter, trailing by as many as six in the opening stanza. However, MSU was able to battle back and ended the first quarter tied at 17. From that point on, though, it was all Racers. Next Game

Murray State returns to action on the road Tuesday, when it travels to Evansville to take on the Purple Aces. Tip-off from the Meeks Family Fieldhouse in Evansville, Indiana is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Home Sweet Home – Racers Return To The CFSB Center vs Campbellsville

The Murray State Racers (5-1) host the Campbellsville Tigers tonight in a 7 p.m. tip at the CFSB Center. MSU enters the game having won their last three games at the CFSB Center and their last 18 non-conference games at The Bank.

Racers Have Successful Week In Florida

MSU won their final two games at the Naples Invitational during Thanksgiving week when they took down Long Beach 80-43 and James Madison 74-62. The Racers rebounded nicely after a poor shooting night cost them in a 66-58 defeat to East Tennessee. MSU’s win over LBSU was their sixth straight against teams from the state of California.

Vols Thump Vanderbilt

(Knoxville, TN)  —  The Volunteers are celebrating a regular-season ending win over Vanderbilt.  Tennessee beat the Commodores, 45-21, on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.  UT ended the regular season on a two game winning streak.  The Vols are expected to find out their bowl destination next weekend.

Tigers Gain Bowl Eligibility With Win Over Tulane

(Memphis, TN)  —  The UofM football team is bowl eligible.  The Tigers improved to 6-and-6 with a, 33-28, win over Tulane at the Liberty Bowl on Saturday.  It’s the eighth consecutive year the Tigers will go bowling.  It’s not yet known in which bowl game the Tigers will play.

Blues Host Lightning Tomorrow

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Blues will host the two-time defending champion Lightning tomorrow night in the front end of a home-and-home. The teams will then rematch on Thursday in Tampa.  The Blues have split their last six games and sit at 11-7-and-3 overall.

Oklahoma‘s Riley Bolting For USC

(Los Angeles, CA) — Oklahoma head football coach Lincoln Riley is bolting for the West Coast. Riley will take over at USC, saying leaving OU was one of the most difficult decisions of his life. He replaces Clay Helton, who was fired in September after going just 42-and-24 in seven seasons in Los Angeles. Riley heads to USC after guiding the Sooners to four straight Big 12 titles and three CFP playoff appearances in his first four seasons in Norman.

Ravens Grind Out Win Over Browns

(Baltimore, MD)  —  It wasn’t the prettiest win, but it got the job done for Baltimore.  The Ravens edged the Browns 16-10 in Baltimore on Sunday Night Football.  Lamar Jackson did not have his best game, throwing for 165 yards and four interceptions, but he still contributed with one touchdown pass and 68 yards rushing.  Baker Mayfield did not throw a pick, but he played arguably worse than Jackson, completing 18-of-37 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown.

Washington Hosts Struggling Seahawks On Monday Night Football

(Landover, MD)  —  The Washington Football Team hosts the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.  Washington is 4-and-6, but has won its past two games.  Taylor Heinicke guides the offense with 15 touchdown passes.  The Seahawks are struggling this season at 3-and-7 and have lost five of their past six games.

Buccaneers Push Past Colts

(Indianapolis, IN)  —  Leonard Fournette scored his fourth touchdown of the day with 20 seconds remaining as the Buccaneers pushed past the Colts 38-31 in Indianapolis.  Fournette rushed for 100 yards, ran for three scores, and caught another.  Tom Brady threw a touchdown and interception for Tampa Bay, which is 8-and-3.  Carson Wentz threw three touchdowns and two picks for the Colts.  Jonathan Taylor rushed for a touchdown for Indianapolis, which falls to 6-and-6.

Patriots Smash Titans

(Foxborough, MA)  —  The Patriots keep on rolling.  Mac Jones threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns as New England smashed the Titans 36-13 in Foxborough.  Kendrick Bourne caught two touchdowns for the Patriots.  J.C. Jackson added another interception for the Patriots, who improve to 8-and-4.  Ryan Tannehill struggled throwing for just 93 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the Titans.  Tennessee rushed for 270 yards but it wasn’t enough as it fell to 8-and-4.

Rangers Reach Seven-Year Deal With Semien

(Arlington, TX)  —  The Texas Rangers are making a big splash in free agency.  Multiple reports say the Rangers have reached a seven-year, 175-million-dollar deal with infielder Marcus Semien.  The 31-year-old is coming off a stellar season, hitting .265 with a career-high 45 home runs while also winning a Gold Glove at second base for Toronto.

Bucks Sign Cousins

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  The reigning NBA Champions are bringing in an All-Star center.  The Milwaukee Bucks signed DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract on Sunday.  Cousins appeared in 41 games last year with the Rockets and Clippers.  Over the course of his career, he’s averaged more than 20 points a game.

Islanders Dealing With COVID Outbreak

(New York, NY)  —  The Islanders’ are on pause due to a COVID-19 outbreak.  The NHL postponed the Isles’ game against the Rangers on Sunday as well as Tuesday’s game against the Flyers.  The Islanders are missing eight players including forward Casey Cizikas, who entered the league’s COVID protocols on Saturday.  The Isles’ next game currently scheduled is Thursday at home against San Jose.

Gators Name Louisiana‘s Napier Next Football Coach

(Gainesville, FL)  —  The Florida Gators aren’t wasting any time landing their next football coach.  The Gators have named Louisiana’s Billy Napier their next coach.  He replaces Dan Mullen, who went 34-and-15 in four seasons in Gainesville.  Napier spent the last four seasons at Louisiana, guiding the Ragin’ Cajuns to 10 or more wins in each of the last three years.
Twins Lock Up Buxton With Seven-Year Deal

(Minneapolis, MN)  —  Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is baseball’s latest nine-figure man.  Multiple reports say the two sides have reached agreement on a seven-year, 100-million-dollar contract.  The deal includes a full no-trade clause and MVP bonuses.  Buxton has been solid when on the field but has been hampered by injuries for most his career so far.  The 27-year-old hit 19 home runs and had a .306 batting average last season, both career-high’s, despite being limited to 61 games.

Rays Add Kluber; Finalize Deal With Franco

(St. Petersburg, FL)  —  The Tampa Bay Rays are adding a two-time Cy Young winner just a day after finalizing a historic contract with shortstop Wander Franco.  ESPN reports the Rays have reached a one-year, eight-million-dollar deal with Corey Kluber.  Incentives could push the contract to as much as 13-million.  This comes after Franco finalized an 11-year, 182-million-dollar contract with the club on Saturday.  His deal includes a 2033 option and could be worth as much as 223-million with incentives.

Michigan Jumps To Third In Football Coaches Poll

(Undated)  —  The Michigan Wolverines are jumping back into the top-four of the latest football Coaches’ Poll.  The Wolverines check in at number-three following their upset of previous number-three Ohio State on Saturday.  Georgia and Alabama remain first and second, respectively, in this week’s Top-25 Coaches Poll.  Cincinnati is still fourth, while Oklahoma State is up two spots to fifth.
