MSU Football Going for 3 in a row

Murray State looks to extend its winning streak to three and clinch a winning season when the Racers conclude the football season with a noon game at Eastern Illinois tomorrow. The Racers breezed past the 1-10 Panthers 22-6 last month in Murray. Airtime for tomorrow’s game will be at 11:30 in the morning on Froggy 103.7.

Racers Visit Chattanooga

Tonight, the Racer women’s basketball team looks to continue their early season success when Murray State visits Chattanooga tonight at 6. Airtime is set for 5:30 on WNBS AM and FM. The Racer men are off until Monday when they face East Tennessee at the Naples Invitational.

 

Racers Volleyball Sweep UT Martin to Advance to OVC Semifinals

Murray State sweeps UTM in the opening round of the OVC Tournament yesterday. The Murray State Racers won when it mattered, avenging their two regular season losses to the UTM Skyhawks. The #5 seed Racers will return to the court tonight at 6:00 where they will face #1 seed Southeast Missouri in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in the semifinals.

 

UK Basketball Team Back In Action Tonight

(Lexington, KY)  —  The UK basketball team will be back in action tonight.  The Wildcats will face Ohio University at Rupp Arena.  The ‘Cats are 4-and-1 so far this season.  The game is set for 7 o’clock.

 

Blues Top Sharks, Snap Four Game Losing Streak

(St. Louis, MO) —  Brandon Saad scored twice to lift the Blues to a 4-1 win against the San Jose Sharks at Enterprise Center.  Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou also lit the lamp for St. Louis, which snapped a four-game losing streak.  David Perron had two assists and Ville Husso made 26 saves in the victory.  The Blues visit the Dallas Stars tomorrow night.

 

Texans Meet Titans In AFC South Bout

(Nashville, TN)  —  A pair of franchises that got their start in Houston face-off when the Texans visit the Titans at Nissan Stadium.  The 1-and-8 Texans have lost their last eight games, including a 17-9 loss to Miami before their bye.  The Texans have the worst scoring offense in the NFL, and they’ve finished with under ten points in five of their nine games this season.  Houston also has the second-worst scoring defense in the AFC.  Tennessee is trending in the opposite direction with six straight wins.  The Titans have even been able to win their last two games without Derrick Henry, including a 23-21 win over New Orleans last week.  The Titans have won their last three contests against the Texans.

 

Grizzlies Take Down Clippers

(Memphis, TN)  —  The Grizzlies popped back above .500 with a 120-108 win over the Clippers.  Ja Morant scored 28 points as Memphis improved to 8-and-7.  Dillon Brooks and Jaren Jackson Jr. each scored 18 points and Desmond Bane chipped in with 16 points.  Paul George led Los Angeles with 23 points, followed by Reggie Jackson with 18.  Memphis plays the Timberwolves in Minneapolis tomorrow night.

Patriots Blow Out Falcons On Thursday Night Football

(Atlanta, GA)  —  The Patriots extended their winning streak to five games with a 25-0 victory over the Falcons in Atlanta on Thursday Night Football.  Mac Jones completed 22 of 26 passes for 207 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.  Matt Ryan struggled on the night as he threw for just 153 yards and two interceptions.  Josh Rosen and Feleipe Franks also threw a pick for the Falcons.  Atlanta is now 4-and-6 while the Patriots improved to 7-and-4.

Harper, Ohtani Win MLB MVP Awards

(Undated)  —  The Phillies’ Bryce Harper and Shohei Ohtani of the Angels are making history with their Most Valuable Player Awards.  It’s the first time since 1987 both MVPs came from non-playoff teams, and just the fourth time overall since the BBWAA began voting in 1931.  Harper won NL MVP honors for the second time in his career.  Ohtani earned AL MVP honors for the first time.

Antonio Brown Accused Of Fake Vax Card

(Tampa, FL)  —  Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown is being accused of obtaining a false COVID-19 vaccination card.  According to Brown’s former personal chef, Steven Ruiz, the receiver had his girlfriend reach out to Ruiz over the summer to obtain a fake vaccination card that indicated Brown had received the Johnson & Johnson shot. The NFL has been in contact with the organization and will be reviewing the matter.

Manfred Says Lockout Could Be Coming In Offseason

(Chicago, IL)  —  The hot stove season might cool down this winter.  MLB commissioner Rob Manfred indicated a lockout could be coming once the collective bargaining agreement expires on December 1st.  Manfred told The Athletic that a lockout in the offseason generates progress toward a new deal and “is different than a labor dispute that costs games.”

Report: Mavericks Set To Retire 41 In Honor Of Dirk Nowitzki

(Dallas, TX)  —  The Mavericks are retiring the number of their franchise icon.  The Athletic reports Dallas is planning to retire Number-41 in honor of retired power forward Dirk Nowitzki.  The ceremony will reportedly take place on January 5th, 2022 when the Mavericks play the Warriors at home.  Nowitzki spent all 21 years of his career in Dallas and led the team an NBA championship in 2011.

Report: There’s A ’50-50′ Chance LeBron Plays Friday

(Boston, MA)  —  It looks like LeBron James will be getting back on the court soon.  ESPN is reporting that there is a “50-50” chance James will play tonight in Los Angeles’ game against the Celtics in Boston.  The Lakers officially upgraded James to questionable.  James has missed the Lakers last eight games with an abdominal strain.

Jim Calhoun Steps Down As Coach At Saint Joseph

(West Hartford, CT)  —  Hall of Fame basketball coach Jim Calhoun is stepping down from his position at the University of Saint Joseph effective immediately.  The program will be turned over to associate head coach Glen Miller.  Calhoun was the head coach at UConn for 26 seasons and won three national championships.  Calhoun retired from UConn in 2012 and took over the new men’s division three program at Saint Joseph in 2017.

LAFC Parts Ways With Bob Bradley

(Los Angeles, CA)  —  LAFC is parting ways with its manager.  The club announced Thursday that Bob Bradley will not return after leading LAFC for four seasons.  Bradley was the first coach in franchise history when he was hired in 2017.  During his tenure with LA he guided the team to a 58-34-and-32 record.  His dismissal comes after the club failed to make the playoffs for the first time.  LAFC finished first in the Western Conference in 2019 under Bradley.

Sebastian Munoz Leads RSM Classic

(Saint Simons Island, GA)  —  Sebastian Munoz is leading the RSM Classic after shooting a career best 60 in the first round.  Munoz is 10-under par and leads the field by one stroke.  There is a four-way tie for second-place.  Scott Stallings, Zach Johnson, Chez Reavie, and Mackenzie Hughes are all nine-under after the first round.
