RACER VOLLEYBALL FLUSHES PEAY
The Murray State volleyball team defeated Austin Peay last night at Racer Arena, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 to split the series with the Govs. The 15-11 Racers will be back in action tomorrow and Saturday as they travel to SIUE to close out the regular season.

RACER WOMEN VISIT MIZZOU TONIGHT
After a successful season opener against Asbury Tuesday, the Murray State women’s basketball team will face an early season test on the road at Missouri. Tip-off from the Mizzou Arena in Columbia is scheduled for 7 pm, with airtime at 6:30 on WNBS AM and FM.

RACER VOLLEYBALL ADDS VOGEL
Murray State volleyball has added Ella Vogel on National Signing Day. Vogel comes to Murray State after a standout career at Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The 6’1″ hitter was twice-named SEMO Conference Hitter of the Year and SEMO Conference Player of the Year for her junior and senior seasons. Vogel also spent three years as a starter on the girls’ varsity basketball team. Academically, Vogel made the A-Honor Roll all four years and was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Senate and BETA Club.

UK COMMITS MAKE IT OFFICIAL
The University of Kentucky men’s basketball signing class for 2022 is shaping up to be the best in school history. All four of the school’s five-star prospects for next year signed letters of intent with UK Wednesday. They are Skyy Clark, Chris Livingston, Shaedon Sharpe, and Cason Wallace.

MEMPHIS FALLS TO HORNETS
The Grizzlies fell to the Hornets 118-108 in Memphis. Ja Morant scored 32 points and Dillon Brooks dropped 20 points off the bench. The Grizzlies are 6-and-5 and host the Suns tomorrow night.

PREDS CONTINE ROLLING
The Nashville Predators continued their hot streak last night in Dallas, beating the Stars 4-2 for their sixth victory in the last eight games. The Predators face the Blues in St. Louis tonight.

MAC SAYS NO TO WKU AND MTSU
The MAC is going to stay just the way it is. The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday that it will not pursue expansion, which means Middle Tennessee State and Western Kentucky won’t be joining the conference. MAC commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said the member institutions considered expansion but ultimately chose to stay at 12 teams.

NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
The Ravens will look to invade South Beach when they visit the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. Baltimore enters the game at 6-and-2 after a thrilling overtime win over the Vikings at home. The Ravens are first in the AFC North. The Dolphins meanwhile are struggling at the bottom of the AFC East with a 2-and-7 record.

The Odell Beckham Jr. sweepstakes is now down to three teams. ESPN reports that Beckham is considering the Chiefs, Saints and Packers as his next team. ESPN reported earlier this week that the 29-year-old wide receiver wants to spend the rest of the season on a playoff contender with a winning environment. Beckham was waived by the Browns on Monday.

Dalvin Cook is maintaining his innocence regarding an alleged abuse. The Vikings running back held a five-minute press conference on Wednesday where he addressed the lawsuit filed against him. Cook is being accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend during an altercation at his home last year. Cook’s attorney said in a statement that his client was assaulted by Trimble after she broke into his residence.

Bob Murray is leaving the Anaheim Ducks to enroll in an alcohol abuse program. Murray has been Anaheim’s general manager since 2008, but he was placed on administrative leave by the organization on Tuesday as the Ducks investigate allegations of improper conduct against him. Murray says his focus will be on “improving my life for the betterment of my family and friends.”

Scott Boras isn’t holding back on his thoughts about this year’s World Series champions. The MLB agent said the Atlanta Braves won the title due to a “competitive cancer” caused by other teams. Boras explained baseball is suffering from teams unloading veterans to accumulate draft picks. The Braves notably made some trade acquisitions in July.

Georgia linebacker Adam Anderson is being charged with felony rape by the Athens-Clarke County Police. Anderson has been accused of raping a 21-year-old woman in her house. Anderson turned himself in to police on Wednesday and was being held without bond. The senior linebacker was suspended from the team on November 2nd.

The first round of the Houston Open is teeing off today. Six Americans will get the day started as the first group. Jason Dufner, Kyle Stanley, Russell Henley, Bronson Burgoon, Scott Stallings, and Kelly Kraft begin the tournament. Last year’s champion Carlos Ortiz will not be participating in this year’s Houston Open.
