BASKETBALL SEASON BEGINS TONIGHT FOR RACERS
Opening night has arrived for college basketball, and Murray State’s men will tip off the season against Cumberland, an NAIA school located in Lebanon, Tennessee. Looking to improve on last season’s 16-11 finish, the Murray State women’s basketball team opens the season this morning at 11 against Asbury. The Racers coasted past Trevecca Nazarene last Monday, putting six players in double figures while shooting 57% from the field. It’s also the season opener for Asbury, which finished 14-6 last season. The Eagles are a provisional member of NCAA Division III until 2024. Today’s game tips off at 10:30 this morning on WNBS AM AND FM.

The Steelers regained the lead for good after Justin Fields found Darnell Mooney to give the Bears a brief lead with under two minutes to play. Pittsburgh moves to 5-and-3. Chicago drops to 3-and-6.

The Raiders are parting ways with a former first round draft pick. Las Vegas released cornerback Damon Arnette after a video emerged that involved the 25-year-old making death threats while waving around firearms. Arnette’s release comes after receiver Henry Ruggs the Third was cut after he crashed his vehicle while driving drunk and killed a woman last week.

Major League Baseball is revealing the finalists for MVP, Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, and Manager of the Year. Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Marcus Semien are both finalists for the AL MVP. Ben Simmons is changing his mind when it comes to cooperating with the Philadelphia 76ers. ESPN reports Simmons met with the team-recommended doctor to discuss his mental health on Monday. Philadelphia had been attempting to get the forward to meet with its own medical health professionals and started fining Simmons after he failed to do so last week.
