NELSON FACING NEW CHARGE
The Wisconsin man charged with terroristic threatening in January after police say he made hoax calls targeting Murray High School is facing a new charge. According to police, 20-year old Kya Nelson allegedly made calls falsely claiming there was a gunman at Murray High School. Police said he called again the following day, falsely reporting that “five bombs placed at Murray High School that were set to detonate in one and one half hours, and that everyone would die.” An investigation led police to Racine, Wisconsin where they arrested Nelson on three counts of terroristic threatening. Police say Nelson sent a disturbing text message to a Murray resident and that person reported it to police. Detectives were able to trace the text back to Nelson, and on Friday he was charged with one count of harassing communications.

CHECK CHIMNEYS AND FIREPLACES
As temperatures moderate in Kentucky fire officials suggest this is a good time to make sure furnaces and chimneys are safe for the upcoming winter months. If you use a fireplace you should have a chimney sweep inspect its readiness. Home heating furnaces should also be serviced to make sure there are no issues with carbon monoxide leaking or other problems. And safety with space heaters is critical so don’t plug a space heater in with other appliances, leave plenty of room away from furniture, curtains or other flammable items and never leave a space heater on unattended.
