CATS 18TH IN FIRST CFP RANKINGS
Kentucky is the 18th-ranked team in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season. Georgia is number-one, followed by Alabama, Michigan State and Oregon. Ohio State is fifth, while Cincinnati, Michigan, Oklahoma, Wake Forest, and Notre Dame round out the top-10.

AREA HOCKEY ROUNDUP
On the ice, Nashville beat the Flames 3-2 in overtime in Calgary. The Predators stay in Alberta to play the Edmonton Oilers tonight. The Blues open a four-game road trip tonight against the Kings in Los Angeles. St. Louis enters the game with a 6-1-0 record.

DERRICK HENRY HAS FOOT SURGERY
Breathe a sigh of relief Titans fans, because Derrick Henry’s surgery didn’t have any issues. ESPN reported that Henry’s surgery “went well”. Henry injured his foot in Tennessee’s win over the Colts on Sunday and his timeline to return is unclear. He leads the NFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns this season.

MEMPHIS HOSTS DENVER TONIGHT
The Grizzlies host the Nuggets again tonight. It’s an odd scheduling quirk since the Grizzlies played the Nuggets in Memphis on Monday night. The Grizzlies won that game 106-97. Both teams enter tonight’s matchup at 4-and-3.

PARKER NAMED UT HOMECOMING GRAND MARSHAL
Former Lady Vols basketball star Candace Parker will serve as Grand Marshal at UT’s Homecoming Parade. Homecoming festivities are set to take place across the campus from November 7th through the 13th. The parade will step off at 4 p.m. November 12th from Volunteer Boulevard near the track and field stadium. The Homecoming Game kicks off on November 13th against Georgia.

BLUES ADD ANOTHER TO COVID LIST
The Blues battle with COVID-19 continues. Kyle Clifford was placed on the St. Louis COVID list. Clifford has played in two games for the Blues this season, recording one assist. He is joining forwards Brandon Saad and Ryan O’Reilly and goaltender Ville Husso on the list. Saad is likely to come off the list today before the Blues play the Kings. In other news, forward Oskar Sundqvist was cleared for contact and took part in practice yesterday. Sundqvist has been out of action since March after tearing the ACL in his left knee.

RAMS TRIAL TO STAY IN ST. LOUIS
A Missouri Court of Appeals is rejecting a bid by the Los Angeles Rams and the NFL to move January’s trial over the team’s 2016 move out of St. Louis. The ruling denies an appeal filed last month by the Rams, owner Stan Kroenke, and the NFL seeking to overturn a circuit judge’s August ruling that keeps the trial in St. Louis. The defendants argued that keeping the trial in St. Louis would give the plaintiffs “undue influence” over prospective jurors. A lawsuit filed in 2017 claims the NFL violated its own relocation rules by allowing the Rams to leave St. Louis. A trial date is set for January 10th.

NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
The Atlanta Braves are 2021 World Series Champions. Atlanta defeated the Astros 7-0 in Game Six of the World Series in Houston. Jorge Soler, Dansby Swanson, and Freddie Freeman homered for the Braves. Max Fried pitched six scoreless innings to pick up the win for Atlanta. The Astros finished with just six hits. It’s the first championship for the Braves since 1995. Soler was named the Willie Mays World Series MVP.

The Las Vegas Raiders are releasing Henry Ruggs. Ruggs is facing charges for DUI resulting in death after he crashed into the back of another vehicle that killed the driver. Ruggs’ Chevrolet Corvette rear-ended a Toyota RAV4, that caught fire. Firefighters responded to the scene where they found the driver of the vehicle dead. The Raiders drafted Ruggs with the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Ben Simmons drama continues. ESPN reports that Simmons has not accepted help from the organization to address his mental readiness to play. Simmons had reportedly worked with mental health professionals from the National Basketball Players Association starting this summer. Simmons has not played in any game with the Sixers since requesting a trade from the team this offseason.

The Los Angeles Rams are parting ways with DeSean Jackson after failing to find a trade for the veteran receiver. ESPN reports Los Angeles explored trade possibilities but couldn’t find a suitable partner before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline. Jackson reportedly was willing to stay with the Rams, but the organization opted to waive the receiver.
