(Memphis, TN) — The Ja Morant show is back and better than ever. Morant scored 37 points in the Grizzles 132-121 win over the Cavaliers in Memphis. Desmond Bane chipped in with 22 points and De’Anthony Melton added 20 points. The Grizzlies travel to LA to play the Clippers on Saturday night.
Braves Crush Dodgers, Take 3-1 Series Lead
(Los Angeles, CA) — The Braves are inching closer to a trip to the World Series. Atlanta beat the Dodgers 9-2 in Game Four of the NLCS to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. Eddie Rosario again starred for the Braves, homering twice and driving in four runs. His three-run blast in the ninth broke the game open. Atlanta used six pitchers and limited Los Angeles to only four hits. Julio Urias struggled for the Dodgers, surrendering five runs in five innings. A. J. Pollock drove in both runs for Los Angeles, which again faces elimination in the postseason.
Blues Beat Golden Knights, Remain Undefeated
(Las Vegas, NV) — The Blues remain undefeated after beating the Golden Knights in Las Vegas. Brandon Saad, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Ivan Barbashev all scored for St. Louis, which improved to 3-0-and-0. The Blues face the Kings in their home opener Saturday.

(Nashville, TN) — Nashville SC didn’t win, but it avoided a loss. Hany Mukhtar scored in Nashville’s 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew at Nissan Stadium. Nashville is second in the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 49 points.

(Cleveland, OH) — The Broncos are looking to end their struggles as they face the Browns in a Thursday Night Football clash in Cleveland. Denver lost its early season momentum, dropping three straight games to fall to 3-and-3. Cleveland also stumbles into the matchup and will be without its starting QB. Baker Mayfield is sidelined with a shoulder injury and the Browns plan to start Case Keenum under center.
Astros Take 3-2 Lead In ALCS Over Red Sox
(Boston, MA) — The Astros are one win away from another trip to the World Series. Houston rolled past the Red Sox 9-1 in Game Five of the ALCS in Boston. Framber Valdez earned the victory after allowing just one run over eight innings. Yordan Alvarez got the Astros on the board first with a solo home run in the second inning. Alvarez added a couple more runs for Houston in the sixth as part of a five-run inning.
Knicks Outlast Celtics In Season Opener
(New York, NY) — The Knicks survived a back-and-forth thriller with the Celtics to take their season opener 138-134 in double overtime at Madison Square Garden. Julius Randle was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line and scored a team-high 35 points for New York. Evan Fournier chipped in with 32 points as he went 6-of-13 from three-point range. Jaylen Brown led all scorers with a career-high 46 points.
Former NFL Receiver Charged With Fraud
(Undated) — Kenbrell Thompkins is finding himself in trouble with the federal government. The former NFL wide receiver is being charged with access device fraud and aggravated identity theft. Court documents allege that Thompkins used the stolen identities of numerous Florida residents to obtain fraudulent unemployment benefits from the state of California. Approximately 300-thousand-dollars in California unemployment insurance funds was credited to fraudulent debit cards associated with Thompkins.
Report: Packers Signing Whitney Mercilus
(Green Bay, WI) — It isn’t taking Whitney Mercilus a long time to find a new team. ESPN reports Mercilus is signing with the Green Bay Packers following his release from the Houston Texans on Tuesday. Mercilus, 31, had spent 10 seasons in Houston, but found his role to be reduced this season. Mercilus reportedly took less money to sign with Green Bay as the Kansas Chiefs were among other teams interested in the defensive end.
NBA 75th Anniversary Team Adds 25 More Names
(Undated) — The NBA is adding 25 more names to its 75th Anniversary team. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Tim Duncan highlight the additional 25 added to the list. Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Chris Paul, Patrick Ewing and Kevin Garnett were also among the players honored. The final 25 names will be announced on Thursday as the list totals 75 players.
Former Wash St Football Coach Planning To Sue Over Vax Refusal
(Pullman, WA) — The former head football coach at Washington State University who was fired for refusing the COVID vaccine is planning to sue. That’s according to Nick Rolovich’s lawyer. Rolovich and four of his assistant coaches lost their jobs this week after not rolling their sleeves to get the shot. They were required to do so under a mandate that applied to state employees. Rolovich’s lawyer told ESPN he applied for an exemption due to his Catholic faith.
Report: Deshaun Watson Trade To Miami Possibly This Week
(Houston, TX) — Deshaun Watson may get traded this week to the Dolphins. The Houston Chronicle reports Miami is in serious negotiations with the Texans on getting the quarterback. Watson would have to approve the trade but it’s believed he wants to be in Florida. He is involved with an ongoing Houston police and NFL investigation into sexual misconduct allegations. Watson has also been sued by over 20 massage therapists.
Iwata Leads Zozo Championship In Japan
(Chiba, Japan) — Hiroshi Iwata is taking an early lead at the Zozo Championship in Japan. Iwata fired a seven-under 63 in the opening round to take a one stroke lead. Hideki Matsuyama and Joaquin Niemann are tied for second place at six-under-par, while Matt Wallace is fourth at minus-five. American Brendan Steele sits alone in fifth place, three shots off the lead.
