RACERS POST CLEAN SHEET VS MOREHEAD STATE
A Chloe Barnhouse goal in the 88th minute gave Murray State a 1-0 win over Morehead State yesterday at Cutchin Field. The Racers out-shot the Eagles 14-5, with MSU logging 5 shots on goal to 4 for Morehead State. The 7-6 Racers improved to 2-2 in league play heading into Thursday’s home game with SIUE.

RACERS IN SECOND IN BANNISTER CLASSIC
Payton Carter’s 1-under par 71 helped lead the Murray State women’s golf team to a spot in second place after the first day of competition at the Chris Banister Classic in Gadsden, Alabama hosted by Jacksonville State. The Racers posted a first round team score of 295 and were three shots from leader Charleston Southern at 292. Murray State’s Emmie Eriksson enters today in seventh place on a score of 74. Round two is being played today.

#21 UT MARTIN ROLLS RACERS
Zak Wallace had three touchdown runs and Keon Howard threw for a touchdown and ran for another to lead UT Martin to a 48-24 victory over Murray State on Saturday. Damonta Witherspoon had two touchdown runs in the third quarter for Murray State and he led the Racers with 64 rushing yards. After tossing two interceptions, quarterback Preston Rice gave way to DJ Williams who threw a 7-yard TD pass to Taylor Shields for the Racers first passing touchdown of the season. The 2-3 Racers visit SEMO this Saturday to wrap up non-conference play. Tonight, we will talk about the games on Hey Coach at 6:30 on Froggy, live from The Big Apple Grill and Bar.

CATS DOMINATE LSU TO JUMP TO 11TH IN AP POLL
Will Levis threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more scores as Kentucky dominated LSU in a 42-21 blowout Saturday night for the Wildcats first 6-0 start since 1950. The 11th ranked Cats visit top-ranked Georgia this Saturday. Elsewhere, Virginia edged Louisville 34-33, Tennessee rolled South Carolina 45-20, UTSA edged WKU 52-46, and SEMO beat Austin Peay 30-14.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP
In high school football on Friday night, Murray High piled up 601 yards in total offense while limiting Ballard Memorial to 15 in waltzing to a 75-6 road win. Rowdy Sokolowski rushed for 191 yards, Xavier Biggers had 131 yards and three scores, while Kainoa Olive scored 4 touchdowns on 105 rushing yards. The 5-1 Tigers host Caldwell County this Friday. Adrian Stringer ran for a touchdown with 6 seconds remaining, and then passed for the two-point coversion to give Hopkins County Central a 30-29 at Calloway County. Kanyon Franklin passed for three scores to lead the Lakers, and added a rushing touchdown to go with 126 yards on the ground. The 3-4 Lakers are at Hopkinsville this Friday night.

BOYS REGION 1 SOCCER TOURNAMENT BEGINS TONIGHT
The Boys Region 1 Soccer Tournament gets underway tonight at McCracken County High School with the Mustangs hosting Calloway County at 5:30 followed by Marshall County vs St. Mary at 8 pm. The championship will be played Wednesday night. The Girls First Region Tournament begins tomorrow at Marshall County.

TITANS HAND JAGS 20TH STRAIGHT LOSS
Derrick Henry had 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns as the Tennessee Titans rolled over the Jaguars 37-19 in Jacksonville yesterday. Henry became the third player in Titans’ history to rush for 60 career touchdowns. The Titans host the Buffalo Bills in a Monday Night Football contest next week.

RACER RIFLE SPLITS
The Murray State rifle team took on Ole Miss and UT Martin Sunday and came away with a split of matches at the Pat Spurgin Range in Murray. The Racers posted a 2271-2254 win over UTM in a match that only featured smallbore and dropped a narrow match to Ole Miss 4697-4682 as the teams competed in smallbore and air rifle. Kylie Wright led the Racers with a team-high score of 573 in the UTM match as they were followed closely by Emily Fitzgerald and Abby Zinsmeyer at 569.

BLUES SIGN NEAL
James Neal has agreed to a one-year contract with the Blues worth 750-thousand-dollars. Neal joined the Blues in training camp as a professional tryout. He led the team in goals with four in five preseason appearances. In 13 NHL seasons, Neal has 294 goals and 261 assists.

NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
Josh Allen threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns as Buffalo blasted Kansas City 38-20 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Bills moved to 4-and-1 with their fourth straight win. Patrick Mahomes finished 33-of-54 for 272 yards, two TDs, two interceptions and a fumble for the Chiefs, who fell to 2-and-3 with the setback.

Elsewhere around the NFL, the Cardinals are moving to a perfect 5-and-0. Arizona knocked off Trey Lance and the 49ers 17-10 in Glendale. The Steelers took down the Broncos 27-19 to improve their record to 2-and-3. The Packers outlasted the Bengals 25-22 in overtime, the Falcons defeated the Jets 27-20 in London, and the Cowboys blasted the Giants 44-20.

Lamar Jackson and the Ravens look to keep rolling when they host the one-win Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football in Baltimore. The Ravens have rattled off three straight wins since a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Raiders in Las Vegas to open the season. The Colts sit at 1-and-3 on the season but are coming off their first victory, a 27-17 triumph in Miami last weekend.

The White Sox aren’t ready to go home just yet. After trailing 5-1 early, Chicago surged back to take a 12-6 win over the Astros at home and avoid the sweep. In Boston, the Red Sox needed 13 innings but walked off the Rays 6-4 to take a 2-1 series lead. Today, the Brewers visit the Braves for Game Three with the series knotted at one game apiece and the Astros go for the series win over the White Sox in Chicago. Also today, the Rays look to avoid elimination against the Red Sox in Boston while the Dodgers host the Giants with their series tied at one.

Sungjae Im is making history and taking home the title at the Shriners Children’s Open. The 23-year-old golfer matched a tournament record, shooting 24-under, with a dominant final day on the course. Im shot nine-under-62 in Round Four to finish four shots ahead of second place finisher Matthew Wolff, who finished 20-under.

Kyle Larson is moving on to the round of eight. Larson took home the victory at the NASCAR Bank of America 400 Roval at the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course. With the win, Larson is advancing to the next round of the playoffs, which is now set. Larson will be joined by Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex Jr., and Brad Keselowski.
