Cards To Face Dodgers In NL Wild Card Game

(St. Louis, MO) —  The Cardinals will head to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers in Wednesday’s National League Wild Card Game.  Adam Wainwright will take the mound for St. Louis to face LA’s Max Scherzer.  St. Louis wrapped up the regular season with a rain-shortened 3-2 loss to the Cubs at Busch Stadium.  The Cards finished with a 90-and-72 record.

(St. Louis, MO) —  The Cardinals are paying tribute to longtime radio voice Mike Shannon.  The club honored him yesterday before the Cards closed out the 2021 regular season against the Cubs.  Shannon is retiring after spending 50-years in the broadcast booth.  He could call at least one more game at Busch Stadium if the Cardinals win the National League Wild Card Game on Wednesday.

Titans Upset By Jets In Overtime

(East Rutherford, NJ)  —  The Titans have the dubious distinction of being the first team to lose to the Jets this season.  Randy Bullock missed a game-tying 49-yard field goal in overtime as the Jets upset the Titans 27-24 in MetLife Stadium.  Derrick Henry ran for 157 yards and a score in the loss for Tennessee.  Ryan Tannehill threw for 298 yards and a touchdown as the Titans drop to 2-and-2.  Corey Davis had 111 receiving yards and a touchdown against his former team.

Racers fall to Eastern Illinois in Women’s Soccer

The Murray State Women’s Soccer team fell at the hands of Eastern Illinois on Sunday 2-1 at Lakeside Field in Charleston, Illinois. The defeat moves the Racers to 6-5 on the season and 1-1 in OVC play.

Perfect Day Nets Baum OVC Weekly Honors

For the first time this season, redshirt junior kicker Aaron Baum has been named as the OVC Specialist of the Week for his performance against Eastern Illinois Saturday, the league office announced Sunday.

After missing his first three field goal attempts this season, Baum returned to form Saturday by going 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and 1-for-1 on PATs. The Orlando native hit a pair of 46-yarders in the first and fourth quarters and a 41-yarder in the second. With three field goals and an extra point, Baum accounted for 10 of Murray State’s 22 points in the win over the Panthers. Saturday’s accolade is the second weekly OVC award for Baum in his career, after winning last season for a 4-for-4 performance, also against Eastern Illinois.

On Saturday, the Racers will travel to UT Martin to open their 74th season of OVC football against the 24th-ranked Skyhawks at Hardy M. Graham Stadium. Kickoff is for 2p.m
