LAKERS VISIT #3 MAYFIELD
Winners of back-to-back games, Calloway County football gets perhaps its most difficult test of the season tonight when the 2-2 Lakers visit 4-0 Mayfield. The Cardinals feature a tremendous running game led by Kylan Galbreath who is averaging almost 117 yards per game and has scored 8 touchdowns. Laker head coach Chris Champion knows Galbreath presents a difficult challenge for his defensive unit. Airtime for tonight’s 7pm game is at 6:30 on 104.5 WBZB. Murray High is on a bye week and returns to action next Friday with a home game against Christian County.

RACERS TRAVEL TO BOWLING GREEN FOR PAYCHECK GAME
Murray State visits the Buckeye State for a second straight week when the Racers face Bowling Green tomorrow afternoon at 4 at Doyt Perry Stadium. MSU played a solid first half last week at Cincinnati, but saw a 7-7 tie at the half turn into a 42-7 loss. While playing back to back games against FBS teams is rare, Racer head coach Dean Hood believe playing tough competition can help his team. Airtime for tomorrow’s game is set for 3:30 on Froggy 103.7.

WEEK 3 COLLEGE SLATE
In other games, UCF visits Louisville tonight, and tomorrow Chattanooga is at Kentucky, Tennessee Tech visits Tennessee, UT Martin visits Northwestern State, Austin Peay hosts Morehead State, and SIU hostsTODAY’S REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT Dayton.

Matt Brown of Extra Points reported yesterday that Austin Peay is set to leave the OVC for the ASUN, with an announcement expected as early as Monday. An athletics update is on the agenda for Austin Peay’s board of trustees meeting today. The move would make APSU the third OVC team to jump ship for the ASUN, joining Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky University, which officially joined the conference on July 1.

NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
The Washington Football Team and New York Giants put on a Thursday Night Football classic. Dustin Hopkins kicked a winning 43-yard field goal as time expired to give Washington a 30-29 win over New York in Landover. Hopkins had initially missed the kick but an offsides penalty gave him a second chance. Taylor Heinicke threw for 336 yards, two touchdowns and a critical interception that set the Giants up to take a brief lead late. Daniel Jones threw for 249 yards and rushed for 95 yards for the Giants. Jones threw a touchdown and ran for one on the ground.

Seven time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady says he can play until he’s 50-years-old. The question of how long the 44-year-old will play was asked during an episode of the podcast “Tommy and Gronky,” featuring Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski. This is after Brady committed to playing til he’s 45-years-old in June. The Tampa Bay quarterback said “Florida is sorta a retire-y state,” so he feels like he can play and “then just guide into retirement.”

It’s a big week in college football as two of the best programs square off in Week Three. Top-ranked Alabama has its biggest test of the season so far when it visits ninth-ranked Florida. Over the last two decades, Hard Knocks has covered a team during training camp with nearly full-access. “Hard Knocks In Season: The Indianapolis Colts” will follow the team with the elevated drama that comes with the regular season and the postseason if Indy makes the playoffs. The first episode will air on November 17th on HBO, and new episodes will be released every Wednesday through the end of the Colts’ season.

The Fortinet Championship is underway at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa. Chez Reavie is the leader after the first round of play. Reavie shot a 65 to make him seven-under par. Nate Lashley, Max Homa, Scott Stallings, Troy Merritt, Jason Dufner, and Mito Pereira are all five-under after round one.

The NASCAR playoffs continue this Saturday night from Bristol. Martin Truex Jr. will start the race on the pole. Truex Jr. is coming off a big win last week at Richmond as he punched his ticket to the next round of the playoffs. Denny Hamlin will join Truex Jr. in the front row.
