UK medical student Gerek Meinhardt is bringing home more Olympic hardware. Meinhardt won the second Olympic bronze medal of his career as part of the USA Men’s Foil Team, which defeated Japan yesterday to win bronze. He won a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The Cardinals host the Braves tonight. Jon Lester makes his debut start for St. Louis against Atlanta’s Max Fried. The Cards have split their last four.
The United States had a scare put into them, but will march on to the semifinals in men’s basketball in Tokyo. Team USA beat Spain 95-81 behind Kevin Durant’s 29 points. Jayson Tatum had 13 while Jrue Holiday chipped in 12 points. Ricky Rubio had a game high 38 in the loss for Spain.
The Grizzlies have released their Salt Lake City summer league roster. Desmond Bane, Xavier Tillman and Killian Tillie headline the roster. Memphis plays its first summer league game tonight against the Jazz.
