Mariners pitcher Hector Santiago is the first Major League Baseball player to be ejected for violating the league’s foreign-substance policy. However, the Seattle lefty denies the claims of doctoring the ball, saying all he used was rosin. Crew chief Tom Hallion said after the game it was “very noticeable” and the rest of the crew was in agreement over the ejection. If it turns out Santiago did have a foreign substance on his glove, he’ll be suspended for ten games without the option to replace him on the roster.
