MORE TROUBLE FOR SALTER
A UT freshman quarterback is in trouble with the law again. Less than a month after returning to the team following a suspension, Kaidon Salter was arrested on Saturday for simple possession, along with another player. Salter was stopped by UT police for not having tail lights and a tinted license-plate cover. The arrest report says Salter admitted to having marijuana and told Amari to throw it out before he stopped. Salter was among a few Vols who were arrested in March on drug charges.

A Kentucky native will run in the Tokyo Olympics this summer. Ronnie Baker will represent the U.S. in the 100-meter dash during the 2020 Olympic Games. NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
Brayden Point scored a goal in his eighth-straight playoff game as the Lightning utterly dominated the Islanders 8-nothing in Game Five in Tampa. Steven Stamkos, Alex Killorn and Point capitalized on the power play as Tampa Bay took a three-games-to-two lead in the best-of-seven series. Tonight, the series between the Canadiens and the Golden Knights shifts back to Nevada. Vegas took Game Four 2-1 thanks to an overtime goal from Nicolas Roy. The best-of-seven series is tied at two-games apiece.

The NBA Playoffs resume tonight, as the Clippers visit the Suns for Game Two of the Western Conference Finals in Phoenix. The Suns took Game One with a 120-114 win on Sunday. The Suns are expected to remain without Chris Paul as he is in the league’s health and safety protocols while Kawhi Leonard won’t take the court for the Clippers as he battles a knee injury. Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Bucks and Hawks will begin tomorrow.

The NBA Lottery will be held tonight to determine the draft order. Fourteen teams have a shot at the top overall pick. The Houston Rockets, the Detroit Pistons, and the Orlando Magic each have an equal 14-percent chance at claiming the chance at picking first. The unveiling of the draw will be held at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. The draft itself will be held July 29th. Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham, USC’s Evan Mobley, and Gonzaga’s Jalen Suggs highlight the top players available at the top of the draft.

The Supreme Court is allowing college athletes to receive benefits. The High Court ruled 9-0 against the NCAA in a case involving a player from the West Virginia University and other student athletes. The athletes argued the NCAA’s restrictions on education-related benefits such as paid internships, computers, and other equipment, violated federal antitrust law. The ruling is a blow to the NCAA, striking down some of its long-held “amateurism” rules. The ruling comes just as some states are pushing for student-athletes to receive monetary compensation.

Vikings rookie defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman is expected to recover after being shot four times while visiting family in Washington DC. Twyman was in a car when he was shot and sustained superficial exit wounds. His agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN that he will not need surgery and that “He will make a full recovery.” Minnesota selected Twyman in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
