RACER BASEBALL CLINCHES TOURNEY BERTH
The Murray State baseball team rallied from a 6-4 deficit on Saturday to win the rubber match game 7-6 at SIU-Edwardsville. Alex Crump drew the game-winning bases loaded walk after an 11-pitch at-bat. Jordan Cozart drove in three runs to lead the Racer offense. The series victory moved the Racers into sole possession of first place with a 17-10 record in the OVC, clinching one of the four spots in the OVC Tournament in Jackson, Tennessee. The 17 OVC wins is also a program record. The 29-21 Racers will host Middle Tennessee tomorrow at 5 before hitting the road on Thursday to begin the final series of the regular season at Austin Peay.

EIU AND SEMO CLAIM TRACK TITLES; RACER WOMEN FINISH THIRD
The Eastern Illinois men and Southeast Missouri women won the Ohio Valley Conference Track & Field Championship this past weekend in Charleston, Illinois. The Panther men earned 197.5 points while the Redhawk women earned 143 points. The Murray State women came in third with 121 points. MSU earned four first place medals. Jabreuna Brimlett claimed first place in the Triple Jump and the 100 Meter Hurdles. The Racers also claimed first place in the 4x100m Relay and the 4x400m Relay.

EKU WINS OVC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Eastern Kentucky won its first Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship since 2004 with a 5-4 win over top-seeded Southeast Missouri Saturday afternoon. Samantha Reynoso notched the win and earned Tournament MVP honors. The 35-15 Colonels will get the OVC’s Automatic Bid to the NCAA Softball Tournament. Eastern will find out who they play tomorrow night at 8 on the NCAA selection show which will air live on ESPN2.

LADY LAKERS BASKETBALL CAMP BEGINS TUESDAY
Calloway County Lady Laker Basketball Camp will be held from 9 am to 11 am from May 18 through the 21 at Calloway County High School. The camp is for upcoming kindergarten through 7th graders and the cost $40. Campers may register the day of camp at the high school. Additionally, Calloway County Lady Lakers basketball will be selling old uniforms May 20 and 21 from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the high school. Jerseys will cost $10 and shorts will cost $5.

KNIGHTEN SIGNS WITH AUBURN
Former Southeast Missouri State defensive back Bydarrius Knighten announced his commitment to Auburn on Friday, choosing the Tigers over Mississippi State and several other Power 5 programs. Knighten is a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility remaining. His commitment comes after he held a virtual visit of Auburn’s facilities on Thursday.

PADRES WALK TO SWEEP OF CARDINALS
Cardinals pitchers walked eight batters in a 5-3 loss to a Padres, who swept the three-game series at Petco Park. Kwang Hyun Kim dropped to 1-and-1 after giving up four runs, one earned, over three and a third. St. Louis jumped out to an early 2-0 lead when Nolan Arenado belted a two-run homer in the first. The Cards host the Pirates tomorrow night.

MEMPHIS FALLS IN SEASON FINALE
The Memphis Grizzles fall in San Fransisco to the Warriors 113-101. Ja Morant had 16 points and 9 assists for the Grizzlies. With the loss, Memphis finishes the regular season as the ninth seed and will host the 10th seeded San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night in the NBA Play-In Tournament. The Grizzles must win to move on in the play-in tournament and face the loser of the seven-versus-eight matchup.

AREA HOCKEY ROUNDUP
The Nashville Predators start their first round series with the Hurricanes in Carolina tonight. Nashville finished the regular season with back to back victories over the Hurricanes and will look to keep that streak going. The St. Louis Blues visit the Avalanche tonight for game one of their first round playoff series.

NATIONAL SPORTS BRIEFS
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame is announcing its Class of 2021, just hours after finally inducting its Class of 2020. Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Chris Webber, and Ben Wallace headline the new class. Also being inducted are former coaches Rick Adelman and Villanova coach Jay Wright, as well as Bill Russell for his time as a coach. WNBA stars Yolanda Griffith and Lauren Jackson will also be honored among others.

With their win over the Denver Nuggets in Portland, the Trail Blazers are securing the number six spot in the NBA’s Western Conference and knocking LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers to the seventh seed and the play-in tournament. That starts tomorrow for the Eastern Conference and Wednesday for the West. With their win over the Kings in Sacramento, the Utah Jazz clinched the top seed in the Western Conference while the 76ers clinched the top seed in the East with their win over the Orlando Magic in Philadelphia.

Stephen Curry is the NBA’s scoring champion after draining 46 points in the Warriors 113-101 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in San Francisco. After Wizards all-star Bradley Beal scored 25 points Sunday against the Hornets in a 115-110 win, Curry needed just three points to clinch the scoring crown, which he got 3:24 in the first quarter of Golden State’s game. He joins Michael Jordan as the only other player over the age of 33 to win a scoring crown. Curry finishes the year averaging 31.8 points per game.

The first day of the NHL’s playoffs brought drama on all fronts on Sunday. Tampa Bay’s Brayden Point scored two goals late in the third period to top the Florida Panthers in Sunrise 5-4. Joel Eriksson Ek broke a scoreless tie in overtime as the Minnesota Wild beat the Golden Knights 1-0 in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Kyle Palmieri scored the first goal and the overtime goal as the New York Islanders beat the Penguins 4-3 in Pittsburgh.

K.H. Lee posted a six-under 66 to pull down his first career PGA Tour win at the AT&T Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas on Sunday. It was his fourth round in the mid 60s, finishing 25-under and winning the tournament by three strokes ahead of Sam Burns at TPC at Craig Ranch. Burns finished a stroke up on a group of four led by Charl Schwartzel. Troy Merritt and Joseph Bramlett finished tied for seventh at 19-under.

Alex Bowman is going home with his second win of the season. Bowman held off Kyle Larson to pick up the NASCAR Cup Series win at Dover on Sunday. Despite leading 263 laps, Larson finished second. Bowman was able to work his way to the front after starting 16th. Chase Elliott finished third while William Byron and Joey Logano rounded out the top five.
