Geno Smith is returning to Seattle as Russell Wilson’s understudy. The Seahawks have re-signed the 30-year-old quarterback to serve as Wilson’s backup. Smith appeared in one blowout game last season against the Jets. The Jets drafted Smith in the second round back in 2013.

Mets slugger Pete Alonso is raring to go if he’s invited to take part in this summer’s Home Run Derby. He said before Thursday’s game at Wrigley Field that he’s “all-in” to defend his 2019 title. Alonso beat fellow rookie Vladimir Guerrero Jr. that year. There was no Derby last season.
